Talk Tech to Me at The History Museum – Member Reception

The History Museum of Hood River County presents a new exhibition, Talk Tech to Me, open to the public on Friday, October 2. A reception for members will be held Thursday, October 1, 7pm – 8:30pm.
The new exhibition will feature a history of the avionics industry in the Gorge. The advent of windsurfing brought many of the start up companies and their employees to the Gorge. Insitu, one of the first and largest drone manufacturers in the area, currently has two of its prototype drones on display at the History Museum. Other local companies such as Trillium, Overwatch and Cloudcap, will be featured through the end of December.
Guest speaker Jason Hartmann will present a brief history of the avionics industry at the members reception on Thursday, Oct. 1. He is a project manager at the Mid-Columbia Economic Development District, where he leads industry engagement work throughout the Columbia River Gorge. Part of that role includes managing the Gorge Technology Alliance, a non-profit dedicated to building and supporting the region’s technology businesses and community and to advancing STEM education in the Gorge.
A 24-year resident of the Gorge, Jason spent a decade in the local UAS industry, primarily in business development. He has also served his community as a White Salmon city councilor for eight years and as a Southwest Klickitat fire commissioner for two. He holds a degree in supply chain management from Michigan State University.

The History Museum of Hood River County is open Monday-Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. Admission is $8, $6 for honored guests 65+ and veterans; free for members, children 10 and under and currently serving military personnel and families. The Museum is located at 300 E.
