SUMMARY:True Loves / BendreTheGiant
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS RELEASE FRIDAY\, JULY 10 at 10am!Friday\, October 9th\, 2026\n$23 Advance // $30 Day of6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages\nTRUE LOVES\nThe Seattle-based\, original instrumental funk & soul group True Loves began in 2014 as a jam session between drummer David McGraw\, bassist Bryant Moore and guitarist Jimmy James\, and hassinced blossomed into a global force featuring percussionist Iván Galvez\, trombonist Greg Kramer\, and saxophonists Gordon Brown and Skerik. Together\, the group’s live performances and albums have garnered them much acclaim and millions of streams on YouTube.\nIn 2017\, True Loves recorded their debut instrumental album\, Famous Last Words\, receiving worldwide adulation. The band released their sophomore album\, Sunday Afternoon\, in 2021. 2024 saw the release of the single “Good Weed and Red Wine” featuring keyboardist Nigel Hall (Lettuce) followed by a second European tour. Another single\, “Dopus no. 1\,” was released as the B-side on a vinyl 7 inch. True Loves returned to Europe in the fall of 2025 and supported legendary band Ghost Note on their return to the US. The band is at work on their next album with US and European tours planned.\nBENDRETHEGIANT\nSwollen Eyes\, the debut album from BendreTheGiant\, offers a modern\, dynamic take on funk-infused R&B.Swollen Eyes\, out now via Tender Loving Empire Records\, is both a compelling declaration of artistic intent\, and a love letter to late nights\, early mornings\, and the hours we lose between them.\nBendreTheGiant is the vessel of Portland\, OR vocalist\, producer\, and multi-instrumentalist Ben Estrada\, whose towering presence and imaginative songwriting gave rise to the project’s name. Estrada began releasing music in 2020\, working largely alone until 2024\, when he expanded the project into a full band with longtime collaborator and keyboardist / vocalist Delos Erickson\, bassist / vocalist Eli Hansen\, drummer Nate Hansen\, saxophonist Ben Harris\, and guitarist Avery Scanlon.\nAt the heart of the BendreTheGiant’s music lies a reflective emotional core. “This is a record about loss\, picking up the pieces in the aftermath\, and sticking around for another year to see what happens\,” Estrada says. “Nothing is perfect and closure doesn’t really exist\, but there’s still a light at the end of the tunnel. If you fall in the dirt long enough\, eventually you’ll grow roots… and flowers will bloom.”

SUMMARY:BARN BURNER: The Animeros
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS RELEASE FRIDAY JULY 24 at 10AM! \nSaturday\, October 10\, 2026 \n$20 Advance // $25 Day of6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nBARN BURNER shows are all about the dancing! No matter who might be on the stage\, you are guaranteed to groove. \nTHE ANIMEROS \nWith musical notes that span well beyond genres like bolero\, psychedelic\, and cumbia\, The Animeros not only make their audience hit the dance floor\, but they also invite their listeners and tastemakers alike to a glimpse of their rich cultural upbringing. \nThe group who is made up of Nick Tozzo (drummer and percussionist)\, Nicolas Sanchez (bassist)\, and Mauro Lopez (guitarist) craft a genre-blending sound that drifts between the lush jungles of Colombia\, the palm-lined streets of 1960s coastal Mexico\, and the dusty cantinas of West Texas. \nSanchez’s Colombian roots\, growing up listening to his parents’ beloved salsa and cumbia; Lopez’s parents’ Mexican and American discography\, which spanned from traditional Tejano to improvised jazz; and Tozzo’s love for jazz and salsa music\, the latter stemming from his college years\, leading him to study and live in Colombia to experience music greats first-handedly. All of this\, paired with their undeniable chemistry and meshed with their now hometown Austin’s innovative creative sounds has led them to create the unique sonic movement that is The Animeros\, a name inspired by Colombian shamans who would usher lost souls to their peace. \nTheir journey took an unexpected turn when their music reached the ears of Dan Auerbach\, the Grammy Award winning producer\, songwriter\, and frontman of The Black Keys. Auerbach first heard them by chance\, music floating from an open hotel window that stopped him in his tracks. Captivated\, he made a note to track them down\, and within a year\, that chance encounter led to something bigger. Now signed to Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label\, The Animeros are preparing to release their debut album next year\, produced exclusively by Auerbach himself. \n“I feel like it’s only a matter of time for these guys and for the music that they play. All they have to do is be themselves\,” Auerbach said about the trio. “They’re playing the kind of music that they can play forever until they’re 100 years old because it’s rooted in history\, but it’s very much in the present.” \n“When we first talked\, one of the things was our love for the nuance in Latin music\,” Lopez shared. “That’s what initially drew ourselves to each other… That’s like a language among musicians.” Tozzo also talked about their shared musical bond: “What makes our chemistry special is that even if one of us has just a glimpse of an idea\, together we can take that and really create something out of it.” “That encyclopedia of [music] knowledge everyone brings…That’s what’s really appealing about this project. It’s not just surface level. Everybody’s going pretty deep on it\,” Sanchez added. \nThe Animeros are on the cusp of reaching new audiences all over the globe. More singles are coming with a new album on the way in 2026 via Easy Eye Sound.

SUMMARY:Lou Hazel / Jeffrey Silverstein
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, October 11th\, 2026 \n$15 Advance // $20 Day ofDoors 5pm / Music 6pmAll Ages \nLOU HAZEL \nLou Hazel grew up along the Allegheny River\, where New York meets Pennsylvania and Northern Appalachia slips into quiet obscurity. In a landscape of cold towns\, blue-collar fatigue\, and early brushes with hardship\, music wasn’t inherited. It was uncovered. There were no venues\, no mentors\, no real sense of a scene… just whatever you could scrape together with curiosity and a cassette deck. \nThat absence of direction\, guidance\, and art shaped Lou’s songs as much as any influence. His music echoes the loneliness of those forgotten towns and the strange resilience it takes to create something where nothing was planted. Blending folk\, indie\, and an eye for the overlooked\, Lou writes like someone who’s learned to pay attention. His songs are spare\, vivid\, and weathered with warmth. \nAfter years of solo touring and home recording\, Lou found grounding in Durham\, North Carolina\, where a vibrant music scene and chosen community have helped shape his recent work. His latest record\, Riot of the Red\, captures the urge to get away from it all—the noise\, the headlines\, the weight of a world gone sideways—and find stillness in the simplest things: a long drive\, a bare sky\, a familiar chord. Lou Hazel makes music for those who had to teach themselves how to listen. \nJEFFREY SILVERSTEIN \nJeffrey Silverstein is home. His third full-length album\, Doggone\, is evidence of that long-journeyed fact. \nMeeting at the intersection of the loner-folk\, cosmic country and kraut-laden choogle\, from Doggone’s opening pulse of rhythms to its closing cascade of synths\, listeners encounter a musician fully rooted in the creative community around him and firmly held by the life he’s built over the last decade. \nWhere his past several releases saw the New Jersey native settling into life in the Pacific Northwest — observing\, appreciating\, getting the lay of the land — and finding his footing in the alt-Americana sphere into which he unexpectedly fell\, with Doggone\, he’s immovable\, intentional\, and most of all\, at peace. \n“Not only do I have community\, but I feel it all around me\,” the artist shares of his life now\, in Portland\, Oregon\, “and I’m able to reap the benefits of having that community.” \nCommitted to nurturing his local circle\, he called upon a faithful group of Portland-based collaborators — producer-composer Ryan Oxford (Y La Bamba\, Rose City Band)\, bassist Alex Chapman\, and drummer Dana Buoy (Akron/Family) — gathering at the Center for Sound\, Light and Color Therapy to record Doggone\, mastered by Amy Dragon (Big Thief\, Nathaniel Rateliff\, Moon Duo). Pedal steel savant Rick Pedrosa\, freak folk hero Devendra Banhart\, and Portland’s own Merle Law also appear on the collection. \nTogether\, they gave shape to that formless feeling of winding up exactly where you’re meant to be. Nine tracks backlight life\, love\, and purpose — exploring community\, aging\, carving out your own version of success\, and the impact of place on creative work. \nAn educator and journalist by day\, Silverstein has learned to navigate the push and pull of work and art with intention driving every note. After time making music with Baltimore-based collective Secret Mountains and as Brooklyn-based duo Nassau\, he made his way to the Pacific Northwest. Today\, his drummer lives just down the road. “I’ve just been chasing that high this entire time\,” he says. Now that he’s finally caught up to it\, doggone is truly the only word that seems fit.

SUMMARY:Ages and Ages
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, October 16th\, 2026 \n$23 Advance // $25 Day of6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nAGES AND AGES \nA phrase like “fine thanks and you” is often the polite and truncated outer-shell of a much longer\, and more complicated story we all have. We use it like a dam to keep the buildup of our thoughts from spilling out onto others\, though it’s not always clear who we’re protecting – them or us? Nevertheless\, there are worlds behind the wall\, for those who wish to explore. And such is the case for this record. \nIt is painfully unsurprising to say that when the songs for Fine Thanks and You began to emerge\, there was a lot of upheaval in the lives of people in this country and around the world. Meanwhile in my own personal life\, I was moving through a profound loss\, and the realness of this experience was creating some vivid existential sparks that the mind wanted to follow. \nThe sparks I chose to follow were mostly simple reflections about what it’s like to be in a body\, to have agency\, to have space\, and to move through this window of time like a visitor. It was an exploration\, and with every exploration comes imagery: heatwaves waving back at me (Hot Pavement)…sidewalks slipping off into infinity (“City Walkin’”)…painted hills\, sharp like knives\, cutting up the purple sky (“Wild Ride”)…up again\, into the light again\, open my eyes and then I realize I don’t want it to end (“Second Thoughts”). Thematically\, there is searching in these songs\, but never a sense of feeling lost. \nWeirdly\, it was during these times of channeling thoughts into songs that I found myself gravitating to big box stores with no intention of buying anything. This might seem like a non-sequitur\, but these places were a calming backdrop to a mind that hadn’t been untangled yet. Something about the sterility of the big box store—their utter neutrality and aggressive dedication to the bland and basic—were a blank and empty canvas for me to cycle through ideas until a line or a hook\, or even a whole song came out. I walked through their aisles for a long stretch of months\, my thoughts only interrupted by the kind inquiries of the stores’ employees. “Can I help you find anything?” I want to find a state of mind I haven’t been in (“Inspiration”). “What is it you’re looking for?” I don’t know what I want\, all I know is that I want it to be real and I wanna feel amazing (“Feel Amazing”). “How are you doing today?” Fine thanks and you. \nThose necessary\, life-giving connections extended into the recording process. I was working at that time close to Trash Treasury\, a studio where Cameron Spies (Radiation City\, Night Heron) records and produces. We would cross paths regularly and talk about anything and everything\, including music. The more we shared our ideas\, and the more time I spent listening to the records he’d worked on\, the more I knew he was the right person to help us construct the sonic umbrella we all wanted to huddle under. \nWe recorded mostly at Trash Treasury and partly at our own studio\, Friendly Ghost. In either case\, the studio was like a friendly shelter for all of us (myself on guitar and vocals\, Rob \nOberdorfer on bass\, and Evan Railton on drums) to have fun\, try things\, and be freaks. But through the second phase of recording\, an additional connection was made that helped Fine Thanks and You reach its completed shape. I met Mira Stanley during a co-write we did over Zoom and was immediately in awe of her voice. We were initially working on our own separate material\, but I asked if she would lend her vocals to this new Ages and Ages record. To my delight\, she drove all the way from Nashville to make it happen. She fit into the fold so well that she has since relocated to Portland and is now a full-fledged member of the band. \nFrom those first sparks of inspiration to the finished album\, I found myself returning to a poem Dr. Clarisa Pinkola Estes\, the Mexican-American writer best known for the book Women Who Run With the Wolves. The full poem is worth seeking out\, but these lines in particular resonated with me deeply. \nOne of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times. The light of the soul throws sparks\, can send up flares\, builds signal fires\, causes proper matters to catch fire. To display the lantern of soul in shadowy times like these – to be fierce and to show mercy toward others; both are acts of immense bravery and greatest necessity. Struggling souls catch light from other souls who are fully lit and willing to show it. If you would help to calm the tumult\, this is one of the strongest things you can do. \nThe impact of this poem is most plainly reflected in the artwork for the album that Mira and I put together\, but those sparks and the heat of the flames Dr. Estes talks about are hopefully going to be seen and felt throughout each of these songs. The kinds of brief or lingering lights that will help draw us all closer to one another and allow us to make those necessary connections\, be they soul deep and permanent (We could find some light and plant a perfect garden\, cultivate ideas\, watch their petals open\, “Inspiration”) or brief and familiar. Fine thanks and you.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, October 17th\, 2026 \n$15 Advance // $20 Day of6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nIZAAK OPATZ \nIzaak Opatz’s music has always been about longing\, run through with nostalgia for the passed-by and out-of-reach. His first two albums\, Mariachi Static and Extra Medium\, were propelled by a longing for specific people and places\, made relatable by wry humor\, thoughtful simile and close observation. \nMore recently\, he’s been writing songs that long for an alternative reality\, for different possibilities than the short\, doomed menu offered by our tech lords and the current kakistocracy failing to regulate them. Songs that push back against the coercive pressure to indulge in small conveniences at the expense of personal privacy\, a 20th-century attention span and the steady drip of a monthly subscription: \nI spend a lot of my time now\, jumping through hoops / asking permission from a little screen convincing a robot that I’m not a robot / this future isn’t all it was cracked up to be \nALEX DUNN \nALEX DUNN is based out of the high desert of northern New Mexico. He has recorded alongside folk luminaries Anna Tivel and Eli West and he has had the opportunity to share the stage with artists such as Marty O’Reilly\, Rachel Baiman\, East Nash Grass\, Kassi Valazza\, Rainbow Girls\, Hen House Prowlers\, Sammy Brue\, Shawn Hess\, Izaak Opatz\, Robbie Fulks and many more. His band includes some of the top musicians from the Four Corners region. \nDunn uses his own personal blend of Folk/Americana to reflect on the many lives he’s led\, from his youth along the border of Colorado and Wyoming to the quiet moments aboard commercial fishing vessels in the remote waters of Southeast Alaska\, where he spent over a decade toiling on the sea and writing songs during his down time.Melodic sawdust and salt air\, his music breathes with a sense of place\, yet is imminently accessible and speaks to the universal. \nHis debut record Scattered Poems was recorded in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle\, WA and released in the fall of 2018 – an elegant and timeless debut\, graced by the talents of some of the Northwest’s finest roots musicians\, including Anna Tivel and Eli West. \nPartnering with the label Color Red\, he released his sophomore LP Southern Star on 12/3/21 – which he recorded with his band at Avast Recording Company and co-produced alongside multi-instrumentalist Bryant Moore (True Loves). It was mastered by legendary engineer Greg Calbi (Paul Simon\, Bruce Springstein\, Talking Heads\, Blondie\, Muddy Waters\, Bon Iver\, you name it). \nDunn and Moore collaborated again on the EP “You Just Jump In” – released NOVEMBER 22nd 2024. \nSIMPLY PUT:Alex Dunn is a modern Americana troubadour\, offering his own blend of country-tinged folk music out of the high desert of northern New Mexico.

First\, he released a brilliant and sonically layered folk-electronica meditation on modern alienation\, 2022’s Birds In The Ceiling\, that took some of his fans by surprise. Then\, after wrapping up a difficult tour behind that record in November 2022\, he stopped working entirely. He took an entire year off from playing shows and didn’t use a smartphone for 6 months. “At the end of that year\, I was just like ‘Nobody call me’. I needed to not do anything for a while and just process\,” Moreland says. After nearly a decade in the limelight\, constantly jostled by the expectations of his audience\, the music industry\, and anonymous strangers online\, he carved out some time to rest\, heal\, and reflect for the first time. \nThe result of that unplugged year at home is 2024’s Visitor\, a folk-rock record that is intimate\, immediate\, deeply thoughtful\, and catchy as hell. Moreland recorded the album at his home in Bixby\, Oklahoma\, in only ten days\, playing nearly every instrument himself (his wife Pearl Rachinsky sang on one song\, and his longtime collaborator John Calvin Abney contributed a guitar solo)\, as well as engineering and mixing the album. “Simplicity and immediacy felt very important to the process\,” he says. \nThis is a return to the approach Moreland took on his breakthrough albums\, 2013’s In The Throes and 2015’s High On Tulsa Heat\, both of which were largely self-recorded at home with a small cadre of additional musicians. Echoes of these early albums can be heard on Visitor (Moreland makes a passing reference to In The Throes’ opening track “I Need You To Tell Me Who I Am” in two different songs on Visitor)\, which finds Moreland shutting out the noisy world outside\, and the even noisier digital world in his pocket\, to reconnect with a muse that’s had to increasingly compete for his attention in the intervening years. Visitor charts his journey back to this muse. If Birds In The Ceiling’s theme was alienation\, Visitor’s theme is un-alienation. \nMoreland begins the album where he began his year-long process of healing: doomscrolling past images of political turmoil\, war\, and environmental destruction\, in a trio of surprisingly hooky folk songs that address present-day social realities more directly than any previous John Moreland songs. On opening track “The Future Is Coming Fast”\, Moreland describes the perpetually logged-on life in a time of rolling catastrophe over gentle fingerpicking: “The news keeps steady coming in / Our condition shows its teeth again / A nightmare we all thought would end.” \nIn the bridge of that song\, Moreland lands on a key couplet that captures the personal toll of living inside a perpetual cycle of digital bleakness\, while also hinting at a way out: “But we don’t grieve\, and we don’t rest / We just choose the lie that feels the best.” In order to cope with our digitally mediated lives\, where we constantly bear witness to ongoing disasters while feeling powerless to do anything about them\, we must walk around in a persistent state of denial. We repress feelings and lie to ourselves continuously. This status quo is\, of course\, antithetical to the conditions that produce transcendent works of art. For an artist with ambitions like Moreland’s\, this is a big problem. \nAn infinite feed filled with bad news isn’t the only thing that’s been keeping Moreland from processing his emotions. Ironically\, a busy career as a touring musician can prevent you from doing the deep self-reflection so necessary to the creative process just as much as a smartphone can. On “No Time”\, Moreland sings “Now it’s all a blur / They told you who you were\,” followed by the chorus line\, “I don’t have the time to cry”. In the bridge of “Will The Heavens Catch Us?”\, Moreland describes how painful it can feel to focus exclusively on chasing success – often by following rules set down by others – without taking the time to process one’s emotions\, reflect\, and heal: “We writhe in agony / For our precious little legacy”. No wonder Moreland needed a break. \nSo what’s Moreland’s solution to this impasse? The first step is the same one that Henry David Thoreau posed in Walden\, another work about an artist intentionally isolating with the purpose of pursuing a deeper truth: “Simplify\, simplify\, simplify”. No shows for a whole year. No smartphone. No studio time. No additional musicians. Strip things away and let inspiration emerge. On a musical level\, the result is a raw\, straightforward sound. Moreland leaves a lot of space in these songs. To hammer home the folk immediacy\, he includes some new-for-him instrumentation\, most prominently on two haunting instrumental interludes that he tracked live with a field recorder during late-night country drives. (Who knew that\, on top of everything else\, Moreland plays the mandolin and fiddle?) The result is that\, when Moreland sings “The more you say\, the less it means” on the track of that title\, it has the feeling of being a sort of personal mantra. \nBy doing all of that simplifying\, Moreland creates space to invite the muse back in – a process that he narrates in a pair of gorgeous invocations that kick off Side Two of the album\, “Blue Dream Carolina” and “Silver Sliver” (the latter of which was also tracked live with a field recorder). He begins the side with what is perhaps the record’s most poignant verse: \nBlue dream Carolina\, remind me why I do thisTell me what the truth is\, don’t tell me who to beI don’t have to tell you this life is plenty painfulHere comes my fallen angel\, falling down on me \nBy the end of this verse\, his muse\, his “fallen angel”\, has returned to him\, now a little worse for the wear. And by the end of the album\, Moreland even seems to have resolved some of the internal struggles that led to his year off the road\, as is revealed in a fiery couplet that signals his recommitment to a relentless pursuit of the truth: “I will not be your puppet or your payment / Your easy entertainment\, for I’ve made amends to me.” Moreland has grieved and rested and come out on the other side with a new world-weariness and hard-won wisdom. \nBut there is another path he could have taken. On his Petty-esque ode to despair “One Man Holds The World Hostage”\, Moreland cleverly leaves the identity of the “one man” in question open. He could be one of any number of the men currently endangering humanity\, whether it’s a world leader with access to nuclear weapons\, an oil CEO pursuing ever-greater profits in spite of the threat posed by climate change\, or just an average Joe with hate in his heart. But all of these “one men” have something in common. As Moreland sings\, “One man holds the world hostage ‘cause he’s afraid of his feelings”. This is the line that unifies the album’s social commentary with the personal journey that Moreland describes. The denial and avoidance that most of us rely on to cope with the relentless speed and noise of modern life are\, if allowed to fester\, also the source of our greatest dangers. If we don’t work through our shit\, Moreland suggests\, we all have the potential to turn to the dark side. Moreland’s narration of his journey back to his muse is more than a simple anecdote\, then. The steps that he took – simplify your life\, then listen to that deep and quiet voice inside of you long and hard – form a road map for all of us toward some sort of healing\, not just for ourselves individually\, but potentially for society as a whole. \nJohn Moreland is known for writing lines that hit you in the gut\, but many of the best moments on Visitor are more subtle. The significance of one of the record’s best lines\, from “The More You Say\, The Less It Means\,” may take multiple listens to fully sink in: “Some folks say and some folks know”. This line sums up John Moreland’s worldview very neatly. It lays out the dichotomy of truth and lies that Moreland has spent his entire career examining\, but now more elegantly than ever. On the one hand\, there are people who constantly talk (or sing\, or write\, or post online) without deep thought or reflection – often irresponsibly\, even dangerously\, and for personal gain. These are the “weary worn-out fools” and “famous false prophets” he lambasted on In The Throes\, or the subject of “One Man Holds The World Hostage” on Visitor. And on the other hand\, there are folks who know – those who commit themselves to the pursuit of truth and wisdom\, and who only say things when they fully know them to be true. In Moreland’s book\, the artist’s true calling is to be one of the latter – the “folks who know”. While John Moreland has already earned a spot in the pantheon of the great singer-songwriters of his generation\, Visitor confirms his place in that much loftier Hall Of Fame. \nGEORGIA MAQ \nGeorgia Maq became something of a local hero as the leader of revered punk trio Camp Cope\, calling out music industry sexism over fearsome indie rock salvos while garnering widespread international acclaim. In late 2019\, Maq surprised everyone by releasing her solo debut\, Pleaser\, a refreshingly bright and catchy missive of electro-pop tunes about heartbreak and love. A suite of singles in ‘Someone Stranger’ with Alice Ivy\, ‘Joe Rogan’\, ‘tropical lush ice’ and live EP recorded at the Sydney Opera House showcase the breadth of her taste and range. \nEver since\, Georgia has chased a more genuine form of pop music in her solo career\, a vision hat retains all of the glamour and universality but feels unburdened from capitalist underpinnings. Mining the evergreen themes of romantic\, sexual and self-love\, Georgia Maq’s solo venture was not so much a transformation as it was a revelation. Opening up on her vulnerabilities and heartbreaks\, her continued evolution is far beyond the Greek girl from Naarm that first set fire to the rain.

DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, October 22nd\, 2026 \n$25 Advance // $30 Day ofDoors 6pm / Music 7pmAll Ages \nLAURA VEIRS \nPortland\, OR-based singer-songwriter Laura Veirs has forged a career singing personal songs of romantic intoxication\, everyday vignettes\, and social commentary that are often heavy on introspection and intense character scrutiny. She is fascinated with the intersection of poetry and science and explores this in her lyrics. \nWhile ‘Found Light’ is technically the 12th studio LP from the esteemed Portland\, OR-based artist\, it also\, in many ways\, feels like her debut: ‘Found Light’ is her very first record with co-production credits (alongside Shahzad Ismaily)\, and finds Veirs embracing a self-sovereignty and artistic independence she’d never known previously. \nIf 2020’s My Echo was Veirs’ divorce album\, Found Light is about what comes after.

DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, November 5th\, 2026 \n$15 Advance // $15 Day Of Show **Limited Tickets**6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nTGR Presents: Actually\, It Is Rocket Science \nThere’s no formula for reading a couloir. No equation for stomping a cliff clean. No textbook for knowing exactly when to commit. \nOr maybe there is. \nIt’s worked out in real time—at 60 miles an hour\, in changing conditions\, with the terrain unfolding beneath your skis and everything on the line. \nFor our 31st annual ski film\, we took that idea literally. Actually\, It Is Rocket Science turns the mountain into a laboratory and the world’s best skiers into its scientists\, testing the limits of speed\, precision\, creativity\, and commitment across some of the most consequential terrain on the planet. \nThe result is a film about the calculations that happen before the drop\, the instincts that take over once you’re in it\, and the thin margin between an idea and a line actually working.

While rooting their sound in Ethio-Jazz\, Tezeta Band (Pronounced Tih-Zeh-Tah Band) has been playing old-school African grooves across dance floors and festivals to popular acclaim since 2008 \nTezeta Band was formed in Portland\, OR by former members of legendary 90s Hip-Hop band\, Five Fingers of Funk. After the Fingers dissolved in the early 2000s\, members Ted Hille and Tim Cook discovered a cassette of music from the French compilation\, Ethiopiques and decided to start a new group with their former bandmates. The band\, which started as a tribute to Golden age Ethiopian soul music\, has evolved to now play an inspired mix of both classic and original Ethio-Jazz compositions. \nTezeta Band have had the distinct honor to open for such legends as\, Mahmoud Ahmed\, Aster Aweke\, Hugh Masekela\, Toots & the Maytals and Vieux Farke Toure. In 2016 Tezeta Band self-released a full length LP “The Origin of Night life” and their music has been featured on internationally known compilations\, Noise and Chill Out: Ethiopian Groove Worldwide and Beyond Addis 1 & 2. SUMMARY:The Suitcase Junket
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 8th\, 2026 \n$18 Advance // $25 Day of5pm Doors / 6pm ShowAll Ages \nTHE SUITCASE JUNKET \nThe Suitcase Junket — the intriguing songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Matt Lorenz — weds the sensibilities of early blues and rock ‘n’ roll\, the improvisational spirit of jazz\, and his love of Tom Waits to meticulous\, cultured songcraft. Dubbed a “master of musical imagination” by NPR’s World Café Live and “astonishing” by WBUR Boston\, Lorenz’s weathered\, howl-flecked voice was described by Rochester City Newspaper as “a cross between Hound Dog Taylor and a Tuvan throat singer who has swallowed a bird.” \nLorenz has earned snowballing acclaim for his achingly poetic dark folk. A solitary artist with an organic yet ornate vision\, his seventh album To Go On is his most acutely profound yet. Created in the wake of losing his sister\, singer-songwriter Kate Lorenz\, it’s a tender\, beautiful\, and arrestingly moving record; an internal dialogue and conversation with the departed\, enormously resonant to anyone who ever loved anyone.

SUMMARY:Joe Pug / Dillon Warnek
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, November 12th\, 2026 \n$30 Advance // $35 Day of6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nJOE PUG \nA singer-songwriter known for his lyrical acumen and plaintive harmonica style\, Joe Pug dropped out of college and moved to Chicago where he worked as a carpenter before breaking into the city’s music scene. Since 2008 he has released a string of critically-acclaimed albums and toured heavily in the U.S. and abroad. Paste Magazine wrote of his music: “Unless your surname is Dylan\, Waits\, Ritter or Prine\, you could face-palm yourself to death trying to pen songs half as inspired.” \nHe has toured with Steve Earle\, Levon Helm\, The Killers\, Justin Townes Earle\, Sturgill Simpson\, and many others. He has appeared at Lollapalooza\, Bonnaroo\, and The Newport Folk Festival. His music has appeared on NPR’s “Prairie Home Companion” and “Mountain Stage”. His music has been released by Lightning Rod Records\, which features an alumni roster of Jason Isbell\, Billy Joe Shaver\, and James McMurtry. \nAdditionally\, he is the creator and host of the popular podcast The Working Songwriter. \nDILLON WARNEK \nAs The Neighbors Tried To Sleep is a gritty\, funny\, and painfully honest collection of late-night tales where chandeliers turn into piñatas\, landfills bloom with flowers\, and strange characters drift in and out like half-remembered dreams. It’s an album that walks the fine line between heartbreak and humor\, finding poetry in the wreckage and warmth in the weirdness of being alive. \nA construction worker by day and a keyboard poet by night\, Warnek has emerged as one of Music City’s most skillful new songwriters\, blending a myriad of influences into something entirely his own. The verve and attitude of Warren Zevon\, the piano-pop of Tumbleweed Connection-era Elton John\, the pumping ’70s glam-rock of Ian Hunter and Mott The Hoople\, the folk-rock earthiness of classic Bob Dylan and the sharp-tongued balladry of Randy Newman; they’re all here\, bound together by Warnek’s raggedly earnest vocals and wry lyrics. Warnek is the rare songwriter who can make you laugh\, wince\, and get a little misty-eyed — sometimes all at once. \nLyrically\, Warnek revels in twisted\, two-fisted tales of life’s darker side. He dives headfirst into reckless evenings spent on borrowed money\, hazy mornings waking up in a stranger’s trailer\, and daydreams about keeling over with too many secrets to reveal. It’s a world of bruised knuckles\, bad decisions\, and beautiful mistakes — told with a wink and a wince. \nOnstage\, Warnek holds court at his keyboard\, blending wry anecdotes with subversive lyricism and a showman’s charm. Some say there are no good piano men anymore. They just haven’t seen Warnek.

SUMMARY:Jeffrey Foucault / Janis Carper
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS RELEASE FRIDAY\, AUGUST 7th at 10AM! \nSaturday\, November 14th \, 2026 \n$20 Advance // $25 Day of6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nJEFFREY FOUCAULT \nIn two decades on the road Jeffrey Foucault has become one of the most distinctive voices in American music\, refining a sound instantly recognizable for its simplicity and emotional power. With a string of critically acclaimed studio albums – “Stark\, literate songs that are as wide open as the landscape of his native Midwest” (The New Yorker)\, “Beat-up troubadour folk whittled to dolorous perfection” (Uncut)\, “Songwriting Brilliance\,” (Irish Times) – he’s built a brick-and-mortar international touring career and a devoted following\, one that includes luminaries like Van Dyke Parks\, Greil Marcus\, and Don Henley. \nIn September of 2024 Jeffrey Foucault released THE UNIVERSAL FIRE (Fluff & Gravy\, 9/6/24)\, his first album of entirely new material since 2018. A series of high-voltage performances cut live in one room\, the album is both a working wake – Foucault lost his best friend and drummer Billy Conway\, to cancer in 2021 – and a meditation on the nature of beauty\, artifact\, and loss. \nAugmenting Foucault’s all-star band with members of Calexico and Bon Iver (drummer John Convertino and producer/saxophonist Mike Lewis) THE UNIVERSAL FIRE sets Conway’s death against the massive 2008 fire at the Universal Studios lot in California that destroyed the master recordings of some of our bedrock American music\, to interrogate ideas about mortality\, legacy\, meaning\, and calling. \nJANIS CARPER \nTake Bonnie Raitt\, Shawn Colvin\, Rosanne Cash\, and Lucinda Williams and put ’em in a blender\, add a dash of Bruce Cockburn and Kevin Welch\, serve in a salted glass\, no straw. That may be the best way to describe singer/songwriter/guitarist Janis Carper\, whose clear\, powerful vocals and aggressive guitar playing skillfully convey the messages of her well-crafted songs — in styles ranging from country and swing to folk\, rock\, and blues. \nAn award-winning songwriter\, Carper has won songwriting honors at festivals including the famed Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas\, and has toured internationally in the off-Broadway hit “Woody Guthrie’s American Song.”Her 2020 album Sweet Relief — a collection of 14 original songs written and performed entirely by Carper\, recorded solo during the COVID-19 quarantine at MiCasa Studio in Enterprise\, Oregon — is her eleventh full-length recording and one of her most personal. Her 2025 single “Black Moon” continues that streak of honest\, road-worn songwriting. \nAlongside her solo work\, Carper performs with songwriter/vocalist Carolyn Lochert as Jezebel’s Mother\, and the most elusive band in the northwest\, The Strange Striders. She’s toured as lead guitarist with rising Americana star Margo Cilker\, as well as all-woman country rockers Ashleigh Flynn and the Riveters. She is also the founder and director of the Wallowa Valley Music Alliance\, a beloved non-profit she has helmed since its founding in 2004 in rural eastern Oregon.

SUMMARY:Chris Acker
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 22nd\, 2026 \n$15 Advance // $20 Day of5pm Doors / 6pm ShowAll Ages \nCHRIS ACKER \nIn a genre full of tall tales and marketable lies\, New Orleans’ Chris Acker crafts candid songs – weaving his wit and woes into a body of work that exposes the stale plight of the American Songster to the honest\, and sometimes hilarious\, light of day. \nIn the tradition of Guthrie and Prine\, Chris lends a quavering voice to the half-rotten romance of the unremarkable and unrefined. Regardless if you’re sitting by a backyard fire on a muggy Louisiana night or standing stage-side in some far flung town\, when you hear Chris Acker playing\, you’re hearing the end result of countless hours of observing the masters of the craft…and the end result of repeating their mistakes. \nFrom the folk revival through the golden age of country music\, deafened by punk shows and brass bands alike\, Chris’s songwriting is a nod to the absurd yet muted brilliance that inhabits the molded corners of the bars he patrons and cratered street he treads\, paired with a pained honesty that merits a long second look. \nAcker released his fourth full-length album\, Famous Lunch\, on Gar Hole Records in October of 2024. Famous Lunch contains some of his best work yet: laid back\, country-rockers like “Wouldn’t Do For You (Buddy)” and “Shit Surprise” (which Paste Magazine called a “song of the year contender” in 2024)\, a few raucous\, bar-ready joints like “Don’t You Know (Who I Think I Am)” and “Bunn Machine”\, and tender\, folky triumphs like “Stubborn Eyes” and “Eyelash”\, all showcasing Chris’ gift of building “vivid scenes at an impressively low word count” (No Depression). \nAcker tours solo or with his band The Growing Boys — Zach Thomas (bass)\, Nikolai Shveitser (pedal steel)\, Dave Hammer (guitar\, vocals)\, Sam Gelband (drums\, vocals)\, and occasionally Howe Pearson (piano).

SUMMARY:Countryside Ride's 4th Annual Bakersfield Bash
DESCRIPTION:Satuday\, November 28th\, 2026 \n$18 Advance // $25 Day of\n6pm Doors / 7pm Show\nAll Ages \n4th ANNUAL BAKERSFIELD BASH \nOn Saturday\, November 28th\, The Countryside Ride Band will be bringing their 4th Annual Bakersfield Bash to the Trout Lake Hall celebrating their most influential country music subgenre: The Bakersfield Sound. Being West Coast country artists\, Countryside Ride has been profoundly influenced by the Bakersfield Sound\, the artists who created it\, and are thrilled to be dedicating a night to performing the music of Buck Owens\, Merle Haggard\, Wynn Stewart\, Red Simpson\, Tommy Collins\, Dwight Yoakum\, and many more of the purveyors of The Bakersfield Sound. Mark your calendars and don’t forget to bring your dancing boots! \n“Let me tell you about The Bakersfield Sound. It was the wild untamed side of country music that came out of California’s Central Valley in the 50s and 60s. This wasn’t your polished Nashville-style country\, no Sir\, this was rougher\, rawer\, and a whole lot louder: just like the folks who made it. Buck Owens and Merle Haggard were the kings of this scene\, but they weren’t alone. Wynn Stewart brought some west coast swagger\, with his smooth vocals and sharp guitar work\, while Tommy Collins laid the groundwork that mixed humor and heartache in a way that was pure country. Bonnie Owens\, not just Merle’s wife but a powerhouse vocalist\, added warmth and depth\, while Red Simpson kept the highways humming with his truck driving anthems. The Bakersfield Sound was born in the honky tonks and roadhouses of Bakersfield\, where the beer flowed and the dance floors stayed packed. These folks cranked up the twang on their Telecasters\, slapped on a honky tonk beat\, and sang about real life struggles: hard work\, hard luck\, and heartbreak that could only be drowned out with a stiff drink. They took the clean polished sound of Nashville and gave it a shot of adrenaline: creating music that was tough as nails and real as dirt. So\, when you hear those driving rhythms\, sharp guitar riffs\, and honest to God lyrics\, you’re hearing The Bakersfield Sound: a raw\, real\, and unapologetically authentic slice of country music history.” (The Bakersfield Sound) \nCOUNTRYSIDE RIDE \nThe Countryside Ride Band was described in 2016 by The Portland Mercury as “spot-on\, honky-tonk preservationists capable of teaching a master class.” Founded in 2005 by childhood friends Bret Ervin (guitar and vocals)\, Joshua Kunze (lead guitar)\, and Jessica Renee (bass and vocals)\, Countryside Ride originally performed as a three-piece before inviting some of the best country & western players in the Pacific Northwest to join them. Countryside Ride is now performing primarily as a five-piece honkytonk band. For over two decades\, Countryside Ride has been writing and performing original music and traditional honkytonk standards in venues throughout the region. The current line-up includes the tremendous J.D. Cunningham on pedal-steel guitar\, and the legendary Kevin\, “Shuffle King\,” Major on drums. \nIn the years since Countryside Ride’s inception\, the band has been working to hone their craft the way their honkytonk heroes did: playing marathon sets for diehard country music enthusiasts wherever they may be. Countryside Ride can be found performing at festivals\, dances\, special events\, venues large and small\, and rodeos like the Pendleton Roundup: consistently entertaining multiple generations of music fans while breathing new energy in traditional Country music. Additionally\, Countryside Ride has shared the stage with acts like Wayne “The Train” Hancock\, Rosie Flores\, Hellbound Glory\, Summer Dean\, and many others. Although they have released two of their own records (with two more in the works)\, Countryside Ride’s repertoire is vast and incorporates multiple sub-genres of American music as well: making them the Pacific Northwest’s premier honkytonk dance band.
