SUMMARY:BARN BURNER: Family Worship Center / Smoker Dad
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, June 19th\, 2026 \n$15 Advance // $20 Day Of Show6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nBARN BURNER shows are all about the dancing! No matter who might be on the stage\, you are guaranteed to groove. \nFAMILY WORSHIP CENTERFamily Worship Center is a rock-and-soul commune born in Nashville\, Tennessee and reborn in Portland\, Oregon. Fronted by visionary songwriter and keyboardist Andy Krissberg\, the group draws its name from a strange\, cult-leaning text unearthed during a cross-country field recording journey. An omen they’ve since transformed into a full-blown\, groove-powered spiritual revival. \nTheir debut EP Sunday A.M. (produced by Grammy-winner Eddie Spear) introduced a lineup of heavy hitters with ties to The Band\, Ringo Starr\, and Deer Tick. Their 2023 full-length Kicked Out of the Garden\, recorded across Portland\, Philly\, and Ukraine with producer Cameron Spies\, spent eight weeks on the NACC 200 and landed the band on NPR’s Live Wire Radio and multiple year-end best-of lists. With a sound rooted in 1970s swagger\, Leon Russell-style piano gospel\, Southern rock\, and communal soul\, Family Worship Center brings their own throwback gospel to the people – complete with horns\, harmonies\, and secular salvation. Troy Nelson of KEXP called them “truly the best live band I have seen in years\,” while The Portland Mercury described their show as “taking your ass to church” -and that’s exactly what they intend to do. \nSMOKER DAD“Rock ‘n’ roll\, smoke a bowl.” That’s the motto of Seattle-based 6-piece Smoker Dad\, which gives you an idea of what to expect (if the band name didn’t already). The cover photo of their self-titled debut album shows that they also have a tasteful sense of humor. More importantly though: Trevor Conway (vocals\, guitar)\, Chris King (vocals\, keys)\, Teagen Conway (guitar\, vocals)\, Chris Costalupes (pedal steels\, guitar\, tambourine)\, Derek Luther (bass\, vocals)\, and Adam Knowles (drums) know how to play Southern fried rock music. The ten songs here – nine originals\, one cover (Ron Pederson’s Puget Sound) – are loud\, fast\, raucous and dirty\, as it should be. Smoker Dad rocks hard\, but always with a sense of melody – swinging guitar riffs and powerful vocals – that will make you dance like crazy. – Dennis Add to Wantlist

SUMMARY:Drew Martin / St Yuma / Lilly Miller
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, June 18th\, 2026 \n$15 Advance // $15 Day Of Show6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nDREW MARTINSeattle-based and one-of-a-kind\, Drew Martin blends Hawaiian slack key roots with poetic storytelling\, earning him the nickname “Maui’s answer to Bob Dylan.” Originally from Maui\, Hawai‘i\, his sound weaves together folk\, blues\, and traditional Hawaiian influences into something both timeless and distinctly his own. A multi-instrumentalist\, Drew brings songs to life with 12-string guitar\, harmonica\, and ukulele\, creating warm\, transportive performances that feel deeply connected to place. Inspired by nature and his home in the West Maui mountains\, his music carries the spirit of the islands while resonating far beyond them. \nST. YUMAFollowing the intimate grief of 2024’s “Country Sleight of Hand”\, Stevan Alva returns as St. Yuma with “Trout Man”—a bold leap into surreal\, theatrical storytelling. Where his last album mourned in hushed tones\, Trout Man revels in the strange and sacred\, casting sadness as a cast of characters: a self-loathing trout\, a walrus named Alone\, and an after-hours Mr. Rogers all circling the same emotional drain. \nBlending folk\, lounge\, and experimental pop\, the album plays like a dream-laced stage show—part confession\, part hallucination. Horns chuckle\, pianos drift through underwater scenes\, and every track feels like eavesdropping on someone else’s dream only to recognize yourself inside it. \nTrout Man doesn’t ask for understanding—it invites you to sit with it\, to feel weird\, to feel deeply. It’s an AA meeting for melancholics\, where blueberry pie and smooth cigarettes stand in for the soft ache we keep returning to. \nLILLY MILLERLilly Miller is a singer-songwriter whose candid\, cathartic folk songs draw listeners in and reward close attention. Raised in Iowa\, she began performing after relocating to Seattle\, Washington in 2022\, quickly finding her footing in the city’s music scene. She has since toured in support of artists like Damien Jurado\, Olivia Barton\, and Racoma. \nHer debut record\, After\, now (2025)\, expands her acoustic foundation with exploratory textures and lush\, atmospheric soundscapes. Her forthcoming release\, Did Something in Me Break (2026)—a split with Damien Jurado—reimagines many of her earlier songs in a warm\, live setting\, offering a more intimate and immediate take on her work.

SUMMARY:Alela Diane (full band) / Shannon Lay
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, June 12th\, 2026 \n$25 Advance // $30 Day Of Show6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nALELA DIANEMore than a decade into one of contemporary folk’s most quietly extraordinary careers\, Alela Diane returns on May 22 with Who’s Keeping Time? via Fluff & Gravy / Loose Music. \nThe Portland songwriter’s seventh full-length album came as the consequence of intuition\, coincidence\, and community. On the first of April last year\, Michael Hurley\, folk legend and indispensable presence in the Portland music scene\, died at the age of eighty-three. “I was absolutely gutted\,” says Alela\, who didn’t just revere Hurley but knew him well. She performed in a tribute show for Hurley\, and in that collective mourning\, found solace and inspiration. “It was an epiphany to realize how much I missed my community. I felt very clear about what I wanted in that moment—I want to be alive. I want to see live music. I want to play it.” \nThough she’d taken the solo route on her last handful of releases\, Alela was interested in a new way forward. Plucking the day away in the attic of her 1892 Victorian home\, she found new songs flickering in the dusty light—and a desire to play them with people. \nAlela met drummer Danny Austin-Manning at Clay Street Studios one night and he introduced her to co-producer Sam Weber (Madison Cunningham\, Anna Tivel). Along with Sebastian Owens on bass\, they recorded fifteen songs in less than five days—all live in the very attic where she wrote them. Anna Tivel contributed backing vocals and violin. Peter Lalish\, of the band Lucius\, added guitar. Fellow Pacific Northwesterners Kati Claborn and Luke Ydstie of Blind Pilot and AC Sapphire provided overdubs of all kinds. Alela’s vision for uninhibited music and revived\, creative kinship thrust her into a new season. \nThe result is an 11-track set ranging from lulling to raw to cinematic\, with Alela’s mellifluous voice a lively and affecting instrument throughout. The lyrics reveal an artist with the particular kind of strength required to face pain without getting lost—an ability Alela has honed over a lifetime of songwriting\, during which her lustrous discography has garnered major critical acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork\, NPR Music\, The Guardian\, and plenty more. UNCUT has characterized her skill as “insanely beautiful\, with the strength and delicacy of spider silk” while counting her work among the ‘50 best singer-songwriter albums’ of all time—a canon comprising John Lennon\, Joni Mitchell\, Joan Baez\, and Paul Simon. Consequence has echoed that significance\, declaring\, “Hers is a timeless sound\, that of a wayfaring troubadour\, which only seems to come a few times a generation.” \nWith Who’s Keeping Time?\, Alela Diane transforms grief into gathering\, reaffirming her place as a vital\, living force in contemporary folk music—rooted in community\, presence\, and the enduring power of song. \nSHANNON LAYShannon Lay’s music is shored by radical empathy. After 15 years of writing\, recording and performing her singularly gentle songs in venues around the world\, the self-taught singer-songwriter is most concerned with how her music may help people in emotional and spiritual need. In a world of persistent change\, Lay’s goal is to have concentrations of love and energy in her work that double as a helping hand or a voice whispering “everything is going to be ok.” The singer’s abiding belief is that immense change also means invaluable transformation and permanent relief. Intention is her North Star. Hailed by publications such as Pitchfork\, The Guardian\, SPIN and Uncut magazine\, Lay’s solo albums\, including “Geist\,” “August”\, “Living Water\,” and “All this life goin’ down” are noted for their thoughtful and entirely tender reflections on life’s big questions. Her seraphic voice has drawn comparisons to British folk icons Anne Briggs\, Sandy Denny and Vashti Bunyan. Though an old soul\, Lay aims to meet her listeners in the present. For her\, creating a song\, a recording or a live performance that is relatable and communal is of the utmost importance for we are constantly in flux and those unknowns\, met with compassion\, can be beautiful.

SUMMARY:The Montvales / Creekbed Carter Hogan
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, June 11th\, 2026 \n$20 Advance // $25 Day Of Show\n6pm Doors / 7pm Show\nAll Ages \nTHE MONTVALES\nBorn and raised in Knoxville\, TN\, Sally Buice and Molly Rochelson of The Montvales spent much of their formative years busking amidst the Elvis impersonators and musical saw players of the town’s Market Square\, honing their uniquely boisterous harmonies and perfecting the art of people-watching. Some fifteen years later\, the two are still at it-maintaining their study of the robust chaos of the commons as they tour the country playing their descriptive\, textured songs on the self-described “feral outskirts of country music.”\nTheir lyrics tackle everything from heartbreak to gentrification to abortion rights\, pulling audiences in alongside their well-worn harmonies and nearly telepathic musical connection. \nIn 2020\, the Montvales recorded their first album Heartbreak Summer Camp in a living room. The stripped-down\, DIY folksongs span their young adulthood\, beginning in their teens and taking them through their mid 20s. Then\, seeking a more polished\, full-band sound\, the duo recorded their next album Born Strangers at Sean Sullivan’s Tractor Shed Studio in Goodlettsville\, TN\, recruiting Nashville stalwart Mike Eli LoPinto (guitarist for Chris Stapleton\, producer of Emily Nenni’s On the Ranch) to produce it.\nThe record garnered them a dedicated cult following and has been featured by outlets such as Holler\, American Songwriter\, Twangville\, and more. \nThe Montvales have gone on to share the stage with bands like Willy Tea Taylor and the Fellership\, The Local Honeys\, James McMurtry\, and Mama’s Broke\, and have appeared at festivals such as Healing Appalachia and the Old Quarter Songwriter Festival.\nIn 2025 they signed with Free Dirt Records to release the single “Loud and Clear”\, with a hint at more new music to come. \nCREEKBED CARTER HOGAN\n“There’s no fiction as strange as America’s current Dantean hellscape and Creekbed Carter’s the kind of artist to help us navigate it.” — Devon Leger\, Songlines Magazine \nThe music of Creekbed Carter Hogan (he/they) is a quiet act of defiance made at the end of your rope. It is the warm feeling of solidarity coursing through your body as you link arms with strangers. It is a hard-won laugh\, brittle but brave\, in the face of what hurt you the most. It is finding hope where there is none\, asking questions when you’re told to stay quiet\, demanding a future you believe in\, and facing a world hellbent on destruction with community\, enthusiasm\, and joy. \nArmed with compassion\, curiosity\, and a rollicking sense of humor\, Hogan has charmed audiences across the USA and the EU/UK\, honing their performance and craft as they’ve shared stages with other fan favorites like labelmate Nick Shoulders\, Emmylou Harris\, Big Richard\, Willi Carlisle\, and Olive Klug. In addition to being a musician\, Carter is also a fiction writer and educator\, and this triad of practices helps him ask better questions to learn better lessons. \nHogan’s songs have always achieved the rare feat of braiding the personal and the political as a means of bringing people together. Now\, with their second studio album PEASANTS REVOLT (out with Gar Hole Records in 2026)\, Hogan hones their trademark poetics and traditional fingerstyle to present a medieval-Americana manuscript of apocalypse and everyday survival. There is always more to learn\, and more work to do to get there; but whether it’s a 14th century riot of peasants\, a 20th century miner’s strike\, or our modern-day hell\, PEASANTS REVOLT was made to help us sing for our supper so we can reclaim a better world for ourselves.

Gabrielle’s fiddle style is the result of being raised in the Old Time music hotbed of Portland\, OR and being exposed to the fiddle traditions of the Southeast US through years of traveling to festivals and learning from some of the greatest players in the genre. She gained notoriety as a clawhammer banjo player through her work with the Macrae Sisters\, and formed the Horsenecks with Barry after the two met at a music festival in 2012. Barry’s banjo and guitar playing range from thrilling and high-octane to moody and captivating\, and his versatility shines whether flatpicking\, playing clawhammer\, or driving three-finger banjo.Barry has been a luminary in his home town of Liverpool’s music scene for over 20 years\, playing lead guitar with cult heroes Tramp Attack\, banjo with Liverpool’s popular bluegrass party band The Loose Moose Stringband\, and with multiple groups in the UK’s bluegrass and old time scene. Both songwriters bring together their background in traditional music and modern influences across many genres to create a catalog of songs that speak to their place in the evolving story of traditional music. Together\, they create a distinctive sound\, their deft musicianship\, creative instincts and powerful harmony singing front and center\, earning them a place among the leading interpreters of Old Time music today. \nTHE HACKLES \nThe Hackles are a folk collaboration from Astoria\, Oregon. The band is comprised of Kati Claborn\, Luke Ydstie\, & Halli Anderson. \nPowerful three-part harmonies & an unconventional & nuanced use of guitar\, violin\, banjo & clarinet combine to create a compelling & unique blend of folk & Americana. All three take lead vocals & contribute as songwriters\, imbuing their songs with compassion\, humor & a dark honesty. \nThe band has released four albums\, “The Twilight’s Calling it Quits” (2018)\, “A Dobritch Did as a Dobritch Should” (2019)\, “Songs for the Fool” (2022)\, & “What a Beautiful Thing I Have Made” (2023).They have a decade-plus worth of touring under their belts nationally & internationally as The Hackles & as members of Horsefeathers\, Blind Pilot (Claborn & Ydstie)\, & River Whyless (Anderson). \n“Highly refined songwriting & awe-inspiring harmonies”- Rough Trade \n“Intelligent\, highly-melodic song-writing with infectious instrumental hooks\, perfectly offset by sumptuous harmonies”- David Pratt\, Folk Radio UK

SUMMARY:Reb & the Good News
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, May 30th\, 2026 \n$15 Advance // $20 Day Of Show\n6pm Doors / 7pm Show\nAll Ages \nREB & THE GOOD NEWS \nReb & the Good News is a Portland based funk-pop\, world\, and soul group known for their positive message and genre-blending sound. Catchy horn lines and sultry vocals soar over grooves that you can’t help but move to. World rhythms\, funky bass lines and soulful\, jazzy vocals coalesce to form a sound that’s both upbeat and warm. The band is led by vocalist and guitarist Reb Conner\, whose songs reach for hope in a world under pressure.\nReb’s vision is to create dance music that both touches the heart and inspires a life lived in pursuit of the silver lining.\nShe is supported by her creative partner\, sax and keys player Leon Cotter\, (a touring member of the California Honeydrops)\, as well as some of Portland’s heaviest hitters: Cyrus Nabipoor on trumpet\, Milo Fultz on bass\, Kirk Kalbfleisch on drums and Carmelo Torres on percussion. \nReb & the Good News released their 2nd album “Silver Lining” on July 18th 2025. This album is a collection of upbeat\, optimistic music that was written during the pandemic. While Reb faced the grief and uncertainty of those trying years\, she wrote songs of hope to help her make it through. \nAt 19\, Reb’s love affair with music began by playing songs around a beach fire in her coastal hometown of Lincoln City. During a subsequent trip to Europe with a guitar\, jazz was the music that most spoke to her\, and she returned to the States to pursue an education. Reb went to music school at the age of 21 not yet knowing a major scale. With a lot of catching up to do\, her education lasted all of 7 years\, starting at LCC and finishing at the University of Oregon where she focused on Jazz guitar. Reb left her last collaborative project\, High Step society in 2018\, and moved from Eugene to Portland ready to tell her own story and bring her own aesthetic to life.

SUMMARY:FREE! Sage & Aera + Memorial Day Grill & Chill
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, May 23rd\, 2026 \nFREE!\n6pm Doors / 7pm Show\nAll Ages \nSAGE & AERA \nAbout: Sage & Aera is an indie folk duo combining the songs and instrumental prowess of Sage Cook (Elephant Revival) with the uniquely captivating voice and upright bass of Aera Fox. As a founding member of and cornerstone and principal songwriter\, banjo player and guitarist in the Colorado transcendental folk group\, Elephant Revival\, Sage Cook penned some fan favorites like “Go On\,” “Cosmic Pulse\,” and “Down to the Sea.” Embarking on a subsistence farming adventure in 2013\, Sage and Aera moved to Kansas in hopes that deepening their connection to the land would also lead to greater self-realization. During this period of self-reflection and isolation\, they co-founded indie atmospheric folk-pop band WE DREAM DAWN with local drummer Weston Hill. In 2023\, rejuvenated and inspired by their work with the land\, Sage & Aera chose to strip away all the superfluous layers and lay their hearts bare as a purely acoustic duo. Emerging from their self-imposed isolation is purposeful\, pure creativity\, organically rooted and cosmically inspired folk music for the modern era. \nAnd now\, finally\, the album Sage & Aera started working on over 8 years ago (as WE DREAM DAWN) is out EVERYWHERE!\n“Love Undoubtedly Underlies Everything” was released to North American Non-Commercial and College Radio stations. For the week of October 14th\, 2025\, it was the #15 most added album on the NACC charts. All songs were penned by Sage Cook and are performed acoustically as Sage & Aera in live performance. SUMMARY:Brown Horse / smilepile
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, May 8th\, 2026 \n$20 Advance // $25 Day Of Show6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nBROWN HORSE \nBrown Horse return with their third album Total Dive. Their strongest and most grounded work to date\, it showcases a new level of skill and assurance in the Norwich\, UK band’s thoughtful lyricism and musicality. Leaning away from the playfulness and eclecticism of their previous works\, Total Dive sees Brown Horse step forward into the darkness with a cautious optimism. With songs from each of the four members (Patrick Turner\, Nyle Holihan\, Emma Tovell and Rowan Braham) the writing charts a world of small revelations and painful changes. As they move confidently between searing noise and delicate reflection\, they take time to note the beauty and agony of the mundane; the death rattle of a vending machine\, headlights flashing in the eyes of a road-killed fox\, the heather-pink of a winter sky. The new album is the clearest expression yet of Brown Horse’s unique sound – somewhere between the stark country rock of Uncle Tupelo\, the raw intimacy of early Cat Power\, and the haunted landscapes of Magnolia Electric Co.\, while embracing the self-possessed noisiness of alt rock trailblazers like Built to Spill and The Breeders. Bolstered by the playing of Norwich drummer\, Ben Rodwell\, and the vocal harmonies of Leeds-based musician\, Neve Cariad\, Total Dive is the sound of a band coming fully into their own. These are songs inhabited by wide Norfolk skies\, thousands of shared miles on the road\, the noise of heartbreak and humour\, and the echoing silence of long hours spent in strange in-between places. \nSMILEPILE \nHeartfelt\, universal songwriting atop a matching musical journey through a cauldron of genres in which the band find their own precious myths within the alchemy.

SUMMARY:Jonny Fritz
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, April 26th\, 2026 \n$23 Advance // $25 Day Of Show5pm Doors / 6pm ShowAll Ages \nJONNY FRITZ \nJonny Fritz – a veteran of 15 years as a touring musician. Born in Missoula\, Montana and raised in Esmont\, Virginia. A near perfect blend of country and western\, yet impossible to know what to call it or do with it. Jonny calls it Dad Country; a theme park tailor made for dad’s. That’s his genre (so he says) and if that makes sense to you then you ought to have your head checked. The guy does it all. He is a famed leatherworker known for covering household items in handtooled leather (from microwaves and coffee grinders to telecasters). He’s made guitar straps for all your favorite bands and he even co-wrote the hit song All Your Favorite Bands (with Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes). Currently residing in the foothills of Los Angeles\, he hasn’t toured much in the past few years since focusing on selling houses and raising his daughter. He’s branded himself as L.A.’s Only Realtor™ and has become quite successful at selling multi-million dollar properties to the stars. Not to mention he’s the Music Director of a boutique music venue in Sonoma County\, CA called Little Saint that has garnered some major headlines for their surprise shows featuring the likes of boygenius\, Phoebe Bridgers\, Rufus Wainwright\, Hiss Golden Messenger\, Lavender Country and so many more. There’s a special freakiness Fritz brings to whatever he does. Selling real estate\, running marathons\, songwriting\, or leather-working. It somehow all makes sense once you learn to make sense of it. Catch this delicate flower the next time you smell him coming! You won’t want to miss out on your chance to see him do his thing.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 25th\, 2026 \n$25 Advance // $30 Day Of Show6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nEMILY NENNI \nEmily Nenni and Movin’ Shoes is all about the right fit. Made in Memphis\, the Nashville based singer-songwriter’s fourth full length album is as much about dancing as following the steps of understanding and respect. Nenni’s songs reflect her solicitude\, but are much more soulful in this setting – taking inspiration from the many impassioned performers of the region\, to 60’s girl groups and honky tonk heroes. \nPairing once again with producer John James Tourville (The Deslondes)\, Movin’ Shoes was cut at Matt -Ross-Spang’s new Southern Grooves studio. The 13 tracks tie up nicely with added covers from Paul Simon\, Delbert McClinton and Cass Elliott. \nMovin’ Shoes will be released on May 1st via New West Records. \nROSE GERBERBased in Portland\, OR\, Rose Gerber is an American roots explorer\, incorporating country\, folk\, rock\, alt-rock\, and alt-country into a seamless signature aesthetic\, where cowboy boots meet Doc Martins. \nHer catalog includes an LP\, several EPs and a bounty of singles. SUMMARY:*SOLD OUT* Fruition - - Labor of Love 10th Anniversary Celebration!
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, April 24th\, 2026 \n$43 Advance // $45 Day Of Show6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nFRUITION \nFruition\, How to Make Mistakes \nThree songwriters. Five bandmates. More than 15 years together\, building a grassroots audience with a combination of stacked vocal harmonies and collaborative\, song-driven Americana. Fruition is proof that there’s strength in numbers. \nHow To Make Mistakes\, the band’s first studio album in four years\, showcases a reinvigorated group at the peak of its powers. This is American roots music at its broadest and boldest — a melting pot of rock\, soul\, folk\, and pop. What began as a busking string band has evolved into something more eclectic\, rooted not only in the unique delivery of three different singers\, but also the cohesion of five friends who prefer their music to be homegrown and honest… mistakes and all. \n“This is the first studio album that we’ve recorded entirely live\,” says Jay Cobb Anderson\, who shares frontperson duties with fellow multi-instrumentalists Mimi Naja and Kellen Asebroek. “We recorded 17 songs in 7 days\, with everybody playing together in real time\, and we didn’t overdub anything. The songs sound honest and real. They sound like us.” \nCo-produced by the bandmates themselves\, How To Make Mistakes restores the momentum that Fruition nearly lost in 2020\, back when Covid-19 forced them off the road and into quarantine. At the time\, they’d been playing some of the biggest shows of their lives\, crisscrossing the country in support of their most recent release\, Broken At The Break Of Day. The album’s lead single\, “Dawn\,” had even become a hit on Americana radio. Years of relentless work had taken a toll on Fruition’s mental health\, though\, and cracks were starting to show in the band’s foundation. “We were so deep into the tour hustle that a lot of our cohesive vision might’ve gotten lost\,” Naja admits. “Like anybody in any work force\, we’d all learned to put our heads down and keep moving forward\, even if that wasn’t the best thing for us.” \nWhen they reunited one year later for a long-overdue band practice\, they took stock of everything that had changed during those 12 months apart. Some members had started families. Others had gotten sober. All of them had made the conscious decision to return to music. Fruition funneled that growth and maturity back into their new songs\, which doubled as rallying cries for a band eager to chase down success once again. “We all had the time to ask ourselves some big questions like ‘Do we want to keep doing this?'” Naja adds. “The fact that we reunited in such a reinforced way after all that time apart… I think it says a lot about who this band truly is.” \nAnd who\, exactly\, is Fruition? On songs like “Lonely Work\,” they’re a folk-rock band powered by pedal steel and lovely\, loping tempos. On “Scars\,” they’re a group caught halfway between the earthy textures of Americana and the spacey sweep of something far more ethereal. On “Get Lost\,” they’re a group of adventure seekers looking to leave the big city behind\, stacking their electric guitars into harmonized solos along the way. Fruition’s acoustic roots are evident throughout How To Make Mistakes\, too\, from “Can You Tell Me” — a rough ‘n’ rowdy folk song laced with resonator guitar\, mandolin\, and upright bass — to the campfire ballad “Never Change.” How To Make Mistakes embraces the full spread of the band’s past and present\, mixing unplugged instruments with electrified arrangements\, creating a sound suitable for arenas one minute and front-porch picking parties the next. It’s the widest net Fruition has ever cast\, and it’s also the truest representation of the band’s wide\, all-encompassing sound. \n“When I think about this record\, the word that comes to mind is ‘trust\,'” says Asebroek. “We trust each other. We trust the strength of our songs. We’ve come to really know ourselves as individuals and as partners\, and instead of trying to prove something to the outside world\, we’re trying to show the world that we are who we are\, and we love ourselves.” \nWhen Fruition formed in Portland in 2008\, the band’s three songwriters earned their first fans by busking together on Oregon’s street corners. Those informal gigs were raw and real\, filled with all the honest imperfections of a live performance. Hundreds of shows later\, How To Make Mistakes revisits that flaws-and-all approach\, using it as the foundation for the most definitive album of the band’s career. Tracked live at eTown Hall’s recording studio in Colorado and engineered/mixed by the band’s own drummer\, Tyler Thompson\, it’s an album that embraces not only the in-the-moment immediacy of a live band\, but also the love\, longing\, loss\, and sheer life lived during the band’s 15+ years together. \n“If you listen closely\,” Anderson points out\, “you can hear tempos fluctuate. Maybe you’ll have somebody finger-picking slightly out of time. But that’s part of the whole idea of learning to embrace your true identity. We’re a band that would rather lean into a mistake than use studio tricks to erase it. With How To Make Mistakes\, we wanted to say\, ‘This is us\, with all of our flaws and all of our strengths.'” \nAll of their strengths\, indeed. Collaborative\, consistent\, and musically cohesive\, How To Make Mistakes is the sound of a band rededicating itself to the long haul.

SUMMARY:BARN BURNER: Ural Thomas & The Pain / The Get Tight
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 18th\, 2026 \n$25 Advance // $30 Day Of Show\n6pm Doors / 7pm Show\nAll Ages \nBARN BURNER shows are all about the dancing! No matter who might be on the stage\, you are guaranteed to groove. \nURAL THOMAS & THE PAIN \nUniversally recognized as one of the most exciting singers remaining from the original soul era\, 82 year-old Ural Thomas and his band The Pain just released their third LP “Dancing Dimensions.” Thomas initially made his name in the 1960s with stone cold soul classic releases like “Pain Is The Name of Your Game\,” “Can You Dig It\,” “Deep Soul\,” and his 1964 recording debut with The Monterays “Push – Em Up.” After a musical journey that commenced in his native Portland\, Oregon\, and led to Los Angeles\, Cincinnati\, and New York\, sharing stages with everyone from James Brown to Stevie Wonder to Otis Redding to Etta James\, Thomas became disillusioned with the music business and returned home to the city of roses at the end of the decade – where he continues to reign as Portland’s uncontested Soul Brother Number One. In 2014 Ural met drummer/bandleader Scott Magee at a Sunday jam session he’d been hosting for decades and Ural Thomas and The Pain was born. The full showband set to work\, prolifically gigging\, touring the world\, and releasing four critically acclaimed records (two LPs and two singles) between 2015 and 2018. Despite the usual COVID-19 obstacles\, The Pain finally completed their much-anticipated third album in 2021.\nWhile “Dancing Dimensions” explores everything from sweet Chicago soul to airy West Coast psychedelia to Sly funk\, their latest collection retains the distinctive sound this well-oiled tightly-knit musical aggregation organically developed over years of relentless work. Classic yet unmistakably contemporary at the same time\, “Dancing Dimensions” is the most accurate representation of The Pain’s unique flavor\, power\, and musical breadth committed to vinyl thus far. \nTHE GET TIGHT \nThe Get Tight is a soul-inspired\, funk instrumental band featuring Xan McCurdy (CAKE\, The Loved Ones)\, keyboardist Garth Klippert (Old Lights\, Fruit Bats)\, drummer Adams Beam (Megan Diana\, Independent)\, and bassist Allen Hunter (Eels\, Ural Thomas & the Pain).

SUMMARY:Bob Sumner / Jeffrey Silverstein
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, April 17th\, 2026 \n$17 Advance // $17 Day Of Show6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nBOB SUMNER \nSinger-songwriter Bob Sumner cites the musically progressive sensibilities of his heroes when talking about the spirit of his new album\, Some Place to Rest Easy\, out now via Fluff & Gravy (worldwide) and North Country Collective (Canada). “They were always creating something new\, something different\,” he says of idols like George Jones\, Willie Nelson\, and Waylon Jennings. With that ideology in mind\, Sumner set about creating an album that takes as much inspiration from the audio production of Randy Travis as it does the lyrical soul of Big Thief’s Adrianne Lenker—a melding of eras\, sounds\, concepts\, and stylings that’s informed by the past\, but never bound by it. \nWith Some Place to Rest Easy\, Sumner picks up the tempo compared to his previous releases\, balancing the stirring lyrical depth fans have come to expect with a more buoyant\, lively feel. “It felt appropriate to give the music itself some joy\,” says the man who’s made a career out of tapping into difficult-to-touch-on\, real-life stuff in a relatable\, palatable manner. In the end\, that’s what Sumner’s music has always been about—more than a single sound\, influence\, instrumental\, or clever line. “I always want people to feel something\,” Sumner explains. “If I heard that this album helped somebody that was feeling down\, even just by feeling some other emotion for a little while\, that’s the number one thing for me.” \nFans can now stream or purchase Some Place to Rest Easy at this link and watch the video for the album’s focus track\, “Didn’t We Dream\,” here. To purchase tickets or to keep an eye on future tour dates\, please visit bobsumnermusic.com. \n Some Place to Rest Easy In The News:“a blend of past\, present\, and future sounds” – American Songwriter“More than a single sound\, influence\, instrumental\, or theme\, the through line in Sumner’s music has always been vulnerability.” – Glide Magazine“Genuine and weighty songwriting” – Americana Highways“High class\, country leaning Americana.” – Americana UK“It takes a deft hand to put out a good\, sad record…Bob Sumner nails it on Someplace To Rest Easy.” – Twangville \nBandcamp – Best Country MusicSaving Country Music – Most anticipated releases of 2024American Songwriter – “Standout Album” \nJEFFREY SILVERSTEIN \nJeffrey Silverstein’s new EP Roseway is named after the quiet\, tree-lined neighborhood in Northeast Portland where the guitarist and songwriter lives. “My drive home from my teaching job is all uphill\,” he says. “You kind of crest over this ridge to get to where you want to go. Every moment that happens to me\, I just have this sense of ease once I get to the top.” That sense of relief–the feeling of completing a tough journey—animates the six relaxed and meditative songs here. While half of the tracks are pastoral ambient instrumentals and half are plainspoken lyrical numbers with ample twang and groove\, each captures Silverstein’s striking comfort with his voice\, his process\, and his role as a bandleader. To him\, these songs feel like home. It’s New Age for the everyman: more cosmic than country and more accessible than esoteric. This is what cosmic country sounds like in 2024. \nThis EP picks up where his artistic breakthrough and 2023 full-length Western Sky Music left off. A reinvention for Silverstein that traded homespun solo recordings for an expansive full-band sound\, the LP was acclaimed by outlets like Aquarium Drunkard and The Portland Mercury\, who praised its\, “cosmic country and shimmering Americana that feels like a significant step forward from his previous work.” On Roseway\, he reunites with his Western Sky Music rhythm section in drummer Dana Buoy (Akron/Family) and bassist Alex Chapman and enlists pedal steel player Connor Gallaher (Anna St. Louis\, Lana Del Rey) to flesh out the songs. “I always view EPs as moments to try things and experiment\,” says Silverstein. “Building this trust and communication with Alex and Dana has made for a wonderful partnership and helped me take risks I normally wouldn’t.” \nRecorded with Ryan Oxford (Y La Bamba\, Rose City Band)\, Roseway boasts an eclectic and exploratory palate. Songs like the inviting and laid-back “Gassed Up” find Silverstein adding country-funk grooves over inviting\, spaced-out lyrics. Atop a buoyant bass line from Chapman\, Silverstein sings\, “You’re gassed up / You gotta go / You’re not lonely / You’re just Alone.” It recalls JJ Cale at his swampiest. “I’m always thinking about how you can incorporate more of a boogie and groove with the twang\,” says Silverstein. Even at its twangiest\, Roseway never feels like a throwback or a retread. Instead\, it pushes these signifiers into headier territory. Take the instrumental “Headcleaner\,” which takes on a krautrock-inspired haze. Elsewhere\, single “Cog In the Wheel” takes on a nomadic search for good vibes. He sings\, “I’ve been cruisin’ / such a long time / Never want to settle down.” That track is a balm that feels like getting closer to a destination. \nThe vinyl version of Roseway features a b-side that includes the first pressing of Silverstein’s 2021 EP Torii Gates. “That kind of makes this a split release with myself\,” he jokes. The pairing is intentional and important\, however. Also recorded with Oxford and featured Chapman on bass\, that release found Silverstein beginning to branch out from solo fare to a full band. Here\, much of the material is anchored by a drum machine: It was an exercise in appreciating small moments and being comfortable with transitional periods. While the songs are cozy\, hypnotic\, and compelling\, there’s a tension in how they feel like the starting point to a reinvention. On highlight “Soft Lens\,” he sings\,“Stuck outside the Torii Gates / tired of hearing you have to wait.” When he wrote that song\, that gate was a metaphor for his own musical journey. \nTaken together\, these two EPs feel like a bridge to each other: a document of an artist cresting the hill of his process and vision. It’s a record of contemplation and comfort\, not of prescription and platitudes. Roseway opens with the raw and ramshackle “Countryside\,” which finds Silverstein singing\, “If there’s a gate / I’m passing through / If there’s a light / It’s shining blue.” The line is both the North Star of Roseway and a testament to how far Silverstein has come threading disparate worlds and finding his voice. “I’ve learned to be cool with things not working and failing and loving all of that\,” he says. “It’s all about accepting that part of the process. I love imperfect music. I love songs where you hear the wrong notes. I don’t want to muddy anything up too much and get out of my way.”– Josh Terry

SUMMARY:Pedro The Lion / Lo Pony
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS RELEASE FRIDAY JANUARY 30th at 10AM PST! \nSaturday\, April 11th\, 2026 \n$28 Advance // $30 Day Of Show6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nPEDRO THE LION \nFor thirty years\, David Bazan has been writing about what it means to believe in something—and what it means when those beliefs fray. When Pedro the Lion released \nIt’s Hard to Find a Friend in 1998\, Bazan was already a keen observer of moral and existential conflict\, capturing minor human disappointments with devastating attention. By the time Control came out\, his writing had sharpened\, slicing through suburban politeness and the American dream with pinpoint precision. For over a decade\, he built \nPedro the Lion into one of indie rock’s most quietly radical projects\, chronicling doubt\, faith\, guilt\, and the messy pursuit of grace in a way that felt both deeply personal and universally resonant. \nThen\, in 2006\, he retired the Pedro the Lion moniker\, as if setting down an old burden. Bazan kept writing\, releasing the synth project Headphones and five solo albums that were blunt and revelatory in their own right\, but the decision to retire the name felt definitive. Until\, suddenly\, it wasn’t. In 2017\, after being dormant for more than a decade\, Pedro the Lion was back. The deeply autobiographical albums to follow\, Phoenix\, Havasu and Santa Cruz\, marked a return to the places that shaped him literally and metaphorically\, tracing the lines of the past to understand the shape of the present. \nNow\, on the occasion of Pedro the Lion’s 30th anniversary\, Bazan is doing what he does best: stepping onto a stage with long-time musical collaborator\, Erik Walters on guitar and backing vocals\, along with recent addition to the band\, Andrew Rudd on drums\, and making these songs feel brand new again. The anniversary shows are less about commemoration than they are continuation\, a chance to revisit their 30-year catalog in a way that is still active\, still evolving. \n“The name felt like an imaginary friend for me\,” he says\, “a way to have a relationship with myself.” But if Pedro the Lion was once an imaginary friend\, it is now something else. It is less like a ghost from the past and more like an old companion you fall back in step with\, no matter how much time has passed. \nFor all the sorrow and searching that has shaped it\, the music has always had an essential warmth—a belief in people\, in possibility\, and in the redemptive power of bearing witness to your own life. Three decades in\, Pedro the Lion remains a project about faith\, even if that faith has taken on new shapes. It’s the persistent hope that there is meaning in the telling: if you lay it all out\, every doubt and devotion\, every failure and flicker of hope\, something honest will emerge. \n– Danielle Dietze \nLO PONY \nLo Pony is a queer folk group based in Portland\, Oregon. Known for their intricate three-part harmonies\, dreamy soundscapes\, and quirky social media presence\, the band has garnered a dedicated following\, especially within the queer community. Their forthcoming EP\, “Elephant Sky\,” is an exploration of loss\, nostalgia\, and a slow appreciation for the beauty of everyday life. This tender 6-song debut features their signature blend of delicate vocals and lush\, expansive instrumentals reminiscent of the sweeping landscapes of the Shasta Valley region from which the songs first originated. Inspired by the ways visual and lyrical storytelling can intersect and inform one another\, the record is accompanied by a trio of self-produced music videos that weave together themes of self-discovery\, the concept of home\, and the beauty of friends who find you in the darkness and hold you through it.”
