The strategies instructor Laurel Bushman teaches in this class will guide you in creating paintings of a floral still life and a landscape\, from photos\, imagination\, and life. Simplify the big shapes\, put them into several value choices\, and choose color schemes that will fill your paintings with energy and beauty! Whether experienced or just starting out\, Laurel’s enthusiastic teaching style will energize you and help you reach new levels of creativity! \nSuggested materials: \nPAINT : Students may use whatever colors they feel comfortable with but heavy body acrylics are required for versatility with palette knives and brushes alike. DESCRIPTION:Join artist Cathleen Rehfeld for a 3-hour outdoor painting class in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Pacific Northwest! \nWe’ll begin with a focused demonstration (30–45 minutes) where Cathleen will cover key concepts including color\, value\, perspective\, composition\, and techniques for creating a strong sense of atmosphere and distance in your paintings. She’ll also answer questions and help everyone get set up and focused. Cathleen will be painting in oils\, but students are welcome to bring oil or gouache. \nAfter the demo\, students will paint on location while Cathleen circulates to provide individual guidance and feedback at your easel. This is a great opportunity to paint outdoors\, learn practical skills\, and capture the light and majesty of the Columbia River Gorge. \nClass runs from 9am until noon at a designated outdoor location determined by Cathleen.
