SUMMARY:Transgender Day of Remembrance
DESCRIPTION:Riverside Community Church will host a gathering and lunch on Friday\, November 20 at Noon\, in recognition of Transgender Day of Remembrance. \nThe day is commemorated in more than 200 cities in the US and around the world. It honors the memory of transgender\, nonbinary\, and gender-diverse people whose lives were lost to acts of anti-transgender prejudice and violence\, including suicide\, in the previous year. \nAt Noon in the Riverside sanctuary\, pastors and leaders from several congregations will share poetry\, prayer\, music\, and the names of those lost. This candle-lit half-hour of remembrance will be followed by a half-hour lunch in the Riverview Room\, where the focus will be on resilience. Local organizations that support transgender and non-binary people will be on hand to offer information and support. \nParticipating churches include Bethel United Church of Christ\, Spirit of Grace\, Mid-Columbia Unitarian Universalist Fellowship\, and United Church of Christ\, The Dalles. \nAll are welcome to attend. There is no charge.
