DESCRIPTION:THIS TOURING FESTIVAL OF INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILMS explores our interior responses to global warming—the more artistic\, more personal\, more visceral responses to our many possible climate futures. \nThis traveling “mini” festival of short films exposes the full range of human and artistic response to what may be coming next. Drama\, comedy\, satire\, films of hope and films of sadness\, documentary and animation: heart and vision have a home at the Climate Future Film Festival. \nThe film festival judges are actor\, Edward Norton and environmental activist\, Bill McKibben \nWe will be screening the first five short films of “Chapter One” of the festival. If there is desire\, we can gather again for additional screenings.

DESCRIPTION:Hope is In Our Hands: For more than ten years\, Riverside Community Church has hosted a celebration of Dr. King’s birthday. The events\, sponsored by Gorge Ecumenical Ministries are: \n3 p.m.: Panel discussion with community leaders and advocates \n5 p.m.: Celebration in words and music\, including the Gorge Freedom Choir\, directed by gospel singer Cynta Betts\, accompanied by Tim Mayer on piano. \n6:30: Community dinner of jambalaya and cornbread. \nAll events are free. A donation for dinner is appreciated. \nAll voices are invited to sing in the choir. Rehearsal is at 1:45 on Monday\, January 19\, the day of the event\, in the sanctuary at Riverside Community Church.
