SUMMARY:Gorge Winter Gear Swap
DESCRIPTION:The Gorge Winter Gear Swap is a community event that raises money for the Alpine\, Snowboarding and Freeride time at Hood River High School.  The funds raised are split evenly between the teams and are used to pay for coaches\, equipment and travel (if they qualify for state).   Equipment that needs to be sold is dropped off on the evening of the 7th and the sale starts the morning of the 8th.  There is an admission fee for early admission\, but the fee decreases as the day goes on. \nThe board is not established as a non-profit\, we are working on that but all the money we raise is used for the teams.  The alpine team was able to purchase race helmets for the team and provide some necessary equipment for some of the team members that did not have appropiate gear.  The event is on the 8th\, but the drop off for equipment is on the 7th.  Not sure how to put that into

Highway 35 from Hood River to Government Camp was dedicated as the Oregon Nisei Veterans WWII Memorial Highway by Governor Brown on March 7\, 2022. The highway commemorates the second-generation Japanese American soldiers who served America\, even as many of their families were incarcerated in camps on American soil. \nThe one-hour program will include ringing of the peace bell\, posting the colors\, the national anthem\, greetings from American Legion Post 22\, history of Nisei service in WWII\, 4th & 5th generation Japanese American descendants and recognition of all veterans. DESCRIPTION:A film tour of curated ski and snowboard films played to live musical performances.\nAll proceeds will be donated to the organization Climbers of Color \nFilms:\nSierra to Baker – Stratton Matteson & Tyndall Wells \n\nSierra to Baker follows Stratton Matteson and friends on a 2000 mile long bike to board journey from the Sierra Nevada to the northern reaches of the Cascades. Over 100 days they pedaled between snowboard descents in the Sierra’s and all of the most prominent Cascade volcanoes. It’s a story that blends taking responsibility for stewarding a healthy environment and the pure joy of human powered adventure shared with friends.\n\nThat Wind Still Blows – Noah Casey & Sean Malloy \n\nFrom a car window\, a child glimpses a distant mountain peak—a moment that ignites a lifelong fascination with untouched backcountry lines. That Wind Still Blows moves fluidly between past and present\, tracing the cyclical rhythms of snowboarding and life itself.\n\nLines – Mallory Duncan & Josh Goldsmith \n\nThere’s a tense moment before every grand performance where apprehension turns to belief\, and preparation meets presentation. Lines follows the interwoven journey of a skier and a rapper as they navigate this moment\, on stages of their own composition.\n\nForm – Xander & Jordan Guldman \n\nForm is a short film that explores the intersection of skiing and jazz\, with an emphasis on creativity and improvisation. This project brings together three individuals who grew up in the same hometown\, shaped by the granite slabs and juniper trees of Donner Summit\, who have stepped into three distinct career paths: professional skiing\, jazz music\, and filmmaking. I honestly just miss it and am mostly doing this because I think it’ll be really fun.”

SUMMARY:Memoir Writing Workshop with Nick Jaina
DESCRIPTION:Nick Jaina is a musician and author originally from Sacramento who has lived in Portland\, New York\, and New Orleans. He was an Oregon Book Award finalist in 2015 for his memoir Get It While You Can. His writing has appeared in Atlantic Monthly\, McSweeney’s Quarterly and the journal Oregon Humanities. He co-founded and was music director for a ballet company in New York City called Satellite that involved dancers from Juilliard and the New York City Ballet and performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music\, garnering praise from The New York Times. He has composed scores for feature films and documentaries\, including All Sorts\, Cement Suitcase\, and Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire. His song “A Wolf In Wolf’s Clothing” appears in season one of the television series The Roundabouts\, a spin-off of Outer Banks. He co-created the art installation SPEKTRUM in the mountains of Santa Cruz\, which led to a string of sold-out shows\, a book of the same name\, and a subsequent tour of a hundred intimate tea service music readings that offered people a chance for a profound transformation. \nHe has toured the world performing his magical combination of music and words to rapt audiences . His work is a healing balm for the nervous system\, pulled from the reaches of Dreamland.
