The Guild members provide about 130 quilts every year\, with several award categories such as Mixed Media\, Art Quilts\, and Large Quilts/traditional. Many quilts will be available for purchase. \nThe show includes our favorite vendors: My Quilting Loft\, 3 C’s\, Lala and Mer\, Farm Raised Family Fabrics\, and more. The Hood River Fairgrounds has been appropriated for a Wildfire Response base camp by the U.S. Forest Service. \nWe understand that this late notice is a large inconvenience for you and we are very sorry.  We had hoped that the containment of the large fires in our area and the recent rains would allow us to hold the show.  The mop up work has taken longer than anticipated and the crews need to leave the Mt Hood Meadows property due to colder weather. Hence\, the move to the fairgrounds in Odell. \nOur Guild is proud to support the fire fighters who keep our forests and homes safe.  Thank you fire fighters\, and we will see you at the 2027 show!

DESCRIPTION:The History Museum of Hood River County presents a new exhibition\, Talk Tech to Me\, open to the public on Friday\, October 2.  A reception for members will be held Thursday\, October 1\, 7pm – 8:30pm. \nThe new exhibition will feature a history of the avionics industry in the Gorge.  The advent of windsurfing brought many of the start up companies and their employees to the Gorge.  Insitu\, one of the first and largest drone manufacturers in the area\, currently has two of its prototype drones on display at the History Museum.  Other local companies such as Trillium\, Overwatch and Cloudcap\, will be featured through the end of December. \nGuest speaker Jason Hartmann will present a brief history of the avionics industry at the members reception on Thursday\, Oct. 1.  He  is a project manager at the Mid-Columbia Economic Development District\, where he leads industry engagement work throughout the Columbia River Gorge. Part of that role includes managing the Gorge Technology Alliance\, a non-profit dedicated to building and supporting the region’s technology businesses and community and to advancing STEM education in the Gorge. \nA 24-year resident of the Gorge\, Jason spent a decade in the local UAS industry\, primarily in business development. He has also served his community as a White Salmon city councilor for eight years and as a Southwest Klickitat fire commissioner for two. Holding space for grief that doesn’t follow a timeline\, because grief never does.\n\n\n\n\n\nI’m starting a free educational series at the Hood River Library this fall\, open to anyone in our community. No cost\, no pressure\, just honest conversations about the things we’re usually too afraid to bring up out loud.\n\n\n\n\n\nFirst up\, September 28 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM: Grief Is Not Linear (And It Doesn’t End)\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you’ve ever felt like you should be “over it” by now\, or you’re grieving something that happened years ago and nobody around you understands why it still hurts\, this one’s for you. We’ll talk about where the five stages of grief actually came from\, why they were never meant to be a checklist\, and what it means to carry grief as an ongoing relationship instead of a problem to solve.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe series continues November 16 with a session on planning ahead for end of life\, and December 1 with an open conversation about what death actually looks like. In 2014 Ural met drummer/bandleader Scott Magee at a Sunday jam session he’d been hosting for decades and Ural Thomas and The Pain was born.
