SUMMARY:Poetry Along the Gorge
DESCRIPTION:A pop-up Celebration of Words and Vision will be shown along the Columbia River Gorge. Poetry and art will be along two car free trails of Historic Columbia River Highway paved and accessible. \nThe word and visual poetics center around the Columbia River Gorge and are placed within the panoramas of the Gorge. Come celebrate the work of Claudia Luna Castro\, Kara Briggs\, Kelly Lenox\, and Speakthunder Berry. Read the words and see their artwork as the heart & mind landscape of the Columbia River Gorge. \nLet your own heart\, mind\, and eyes take in this place unique to the world. \nCome Walk\, Roll\, or Cycle these Car Free paved trails along two sections\, 1) Wyeth to Starvation Creek and 2) Hatfield Twin Tunnels trails. Accessible Restrooms are at both ends of each trail. \nEach pop-up section has embedded poetry and art along each 4-mile trail. Two artists will have their artwork near one of the initial trail entrances within a half mile from the parking lot. Two poets will have their poems near the middle of the 4-mile total length (e.g. at 1.5 to 2 miles from either end). Those not used to walking/rolling/cycling a lot can enjoy a short distance from the parking lot of two spots for poems and artwork. \nTrail comment: Both trails have an ADA appropriate 5% grades and are completely easy for parents with strollers & people using assistive devices. This event is a Welcome for All Bodies\, All Ages\, All Bikes\, All Abilities for reinvigorating hearts & minds. Maps & I-84 exit directions available at the web site.

DESCRIPTION:Molly Schwarz has been performing her annual sold-out “I Hate Cancer Concert” since 2012\, with a small break for that pesky pandemic. For the third year\, she has shifted the focus to a rare disease that is very close to her heart. With Scleroderma being so under the radar\, she is thrilled to be shining a light on the nasty disease and raising much-needed funds that directly go to the SRF\, Scleroderma Research Foundation.  \n Molly has been performing all her life\, with her favorite genre being Musical Theater. Since moving to Hood River\, she has been running “Music For Children” for many years. She has worked in comedy at The Groundlings in L.A. and The Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC. She is so excited to make you laugh and maybe make you cry and quite possibly pee a little. Here’s to the “Eleventh Annual Dumb Diseases Concert – Featuring Scleroderma”! \nThis one isn’t for the kids\, so get yourself a sitter and enjoy a night out!

Their debut album “Instructions for Night” emerged from personal transformation and global isolation\, featuring distinctive ASMR-like vocals and carefully constructed sonic textures. Following up with their sophomore album “Escapism\,” Night Heron continues to explore life’s quiet moments\, weaving between dreamy morning reflections and twilight contemplations. Joined by accomplished musicians from Portland’s indie scene (including members of Y La Bamba\, Reptaliens\, The Apricots\, and Weeed)\, Night Heron creates music that invites listeners to lean in closer\, finding universal meaning in life’s most intimate moments. \nTHEODORTHEODOR is no longer a hidden gem amongst sweet soul lovers. The band’s unique psychedelic approach to this genre received international attention from vinyl influencers like Somewhere Soul\, tastemaker radio stations like KEXP\, and leading record stores from Tokyo to San Francisco. \nBackground story: Theodor is named after a 24-year-old cat that observed the genesis of the band’s first album. The recording sessions started deep in the pandemic and captured this peaceful solitude. The outcome was their self-titled LP. The idea to form a recording project was born on a road trip to Italy. Rob (Okta Logue) and Lui (LUI HILL) were listening to tapes of contemporary soul music which became the subsequent inspiration for the project: a vision to record a moody and relaxed soundscape. The band was then rounded out by Max (Fooks Nil) and Greg (Triorität). “THEODOR” was released on the French record label Broc Recordz (2023). \nNow: After their well-received self-titled debut album\, the band is back with a new LP. HOLOCENE has a contemporary sound while showcasing the four members admiration for 60’s Jazz and 70’s soul and funk recordings. Producer\, Engineer\, Musician (Steve Earle\, Billy Joe Shaver) \nBunzow\, based in Portland with regular commutes to Nashville\, has built a long and storied career. Infused early with a strong love of Southern music – thanks to kin from that part of the country – John has developed his own unique fusion of roots rock and blues\, seasoned with everything from reggae and country rock to pop.\n�He counts among his “Mt. Rushmore of influences\,” Bob Dylan\, Merle Haggard\, Tom Waits\, Mike Bloomfield\, Albert King\, country picker Jimmy Reed\, Jimmy Webb\, Randy Newman\, Steve Earle\, and Jerry Garcia\, among many. \nDuring his early years\, Bunzow performed with bands that favored original music\, including the Cowboy Angels and the X-Angels\, as well as working as a solo singer/songwriter and even trafficking in a country music tour of truck stops and county fairs. John found himself bouncing around various music scenes including San Francisco\, Seattle and LA.
