DESCRIPTION:The History Museum of Hood River County is proud to announce its upcoming production of Timewinder Tales – From the Glacier to the Gorge: 100 Years of Crag Rats Lore. Celebrating the centennial legacy of the oldest continuously operating volunteer mountain search-and-rescue team in the United States\, this production highlights the foundational values that have anchored the Crag Rats since 1926: family legacy\, teamwork\, and an ethos of volunteer public service. \nThe performance features local actor Todd Dierker alongside active Crag Rats members Lisa Rust\, Walter Burkhardt\, and James Holloway\, bridging the gap between dramatic storytelling and first-hand operational memory.  The cast will share harrowing search-and-rescue accounts\, lighthearted stories\, and pivotal organizational milestones\, from technological revolutions in gear and communications to the vital inclusion of women in the ranks. \n“The Crag Rats represent an extraordinary chapter in Pacific Northwest history—ordinary neighbors doing extraordinary things on the glaciers of Mt. Hood for an entire century\,” said Lisa Commander\, Executive Director of The History Museum of Hood River County. “We hope to connect audiences with the grit\, humor\, and community spirit that keep this tradition alive.” \nTimewinder Tales (formerly Cemetery Tales) has been an important fundraiser for The History Museum since 2009.  We appreciate your support and look forward to sharing the stories of Crag Rats members with our community.  Join us before the show for appetizers and drinks from The Ruins bar; doors open at 6pm on Thursday and 1pm on Sunday. \n  \nEvent Details:\n\nDates & Times: Thursday\, November 5 at 7pm & Sunday\, November 8 at 2pm.  Doors open one hour prior to the showtimes.\nLocation: The Ruins\, 13 Railroad Street\, Hood River\nTickets: $30 for general admission\, $25 for museum members\, or $10 for ages 18 and under\nTicket Purchases & Information: Visit www.hoodriverhistorymuseum.org or call 541.386.6772\nSeating is limited. SUMMARY:The Suitcase Junket / Ben Larsen at Trout Lake Hall
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 8th\, 2026 \n$18 Advance // $25 Day of5pm Doors / 6pm ShowAll Ages \nTHE SUITCASE JUNKET \nThe Suitcase Junket — the intriguing songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Matt Lorenz — weds the sensibilities of early blues and rock ‘n’ roll\, the improvisational spirit of jazz\, and his love of Tom Waits to meticulous\, cultured songcraft. Dubbed a “master of musical imagination” by NPR’s World Café Live and “astonishing” by WBUR Boston\, Lorenz’s weathered\, howl-flecked voice was described by Rochester City Newspaper as “a cross between Hound Dog Taylor and a Tuvan throat singer who has swallowed a bird.” \nLorenz has earned snowballing acclaim for his achingly poetic dark folk. A solitary artist with an organic yet ornate vision\, his seventh album To Go On is his most acutely profound yet. Created in the wake of losing his sister\, singer-songwriter Kate Lorenz\, it’s a tender\, beautiful\, and arrestingly moving record; an internal dialogue and conversation with the departed\, enormously resonant to anyone who ever loved anyone. \nBEN LARSEN \nFor over a decade Larsen has been performing up and down the west coast and nationally as a solo artist. He recently returned home to the Pacific Northwest after spending a year and half in New York City\, writing and producing his third studio record Clarity\, which released fall of 2024. When Ben is not playing or producing music you can find him at the farmers markets in the Columbia River Gorge\, sharing produce from his Feather Oak Farm.

SUMMARY:Abrazo: An Evening with Nick Jaina Blending Music\, Film + Poetry
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS: https://www.tickettomato.com/event/10353 \n“My friend Andrei in Mexico City tells me that the Spanish word abrazo means so much more than a hug…” \nSo begins the stunning presentation from Nick Jaina\, a poetic film essay called Abrazo that explores the affection missing in the world. \nIn a unique performance\, Nick projects the film while playing gorgeous electric guitar soundscapes and narrating the film live\, all while beautiful videos from the streets of Mexico City flicker behind him. It is a uniquely hopeful experience of soul and body. \nThe film accompanies the book of the same name\, a poetic photo essay that unfolds in full color\, one line on each page. \n— \nNick Jaina was an Oregon Book Award finalist in 2015 for his memoir Get It While You Can\, which is now in its third printing. His writing has appeared in Atlantic Monthly\, McSweeney’s Quarterly and the journal Oregon Humanities. He has released many wonderful albums under his own name\, including 2025’s The Monster Mash. He co-founded and was music director for a ballet company in New York City called Satellite that involved dancers from Juilliard and the New York City Ballet and performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music\, garnering praise from The New York Times. He has composed scores for feature films and documentaries\, including All Sorts\, Cement Suitcase\, and Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire. \nDoors open at 6:30 pm. 18+ Indoor showQuestions? SUMMARY:Joe Pug / Dillon Warnek at Trout Lake Hall
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, November 12th\, 2026 \n$30 Advance // $35 Day of6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nJOE PUG \nA singer-songwriter known for his lyrical acumen and plaintive harmonica style\, Joe Pug dropped out of college and moved to Chicago where he worked as a carpenter before breaking into the city’s music scene. Since 2008 he has released a string of critically-acclaimed albums and toured heavily in the U.S. and abroad. Paste Magazine wrote of his music: “Unless your surname is Dylan\, Waits\, Ritter or Prine\, you could face-palm yourself to death trying to pen songs half as inspired.” \nHe has toured with Steve Earle\, Levon Helm\, The Killers\, Justin Townes Earle\, Sturgill Simpson\, and many others. He has appeared at Lollapalooza\, Bonnaroo\, and The Newport Folk Festival. His music has appeared on NPR’s “Prairie Home Companion” and “Mountain Stage”. His music has been released by Lightning Rod Records\, which features an alumni roster of Jason Isbell\, Billy Joe Shaver\, and James McMurtry. \nAdditionally\, he is the creator and host of the popular podcast The Working Songwriter. \nDILLON WARNEK \nAs The Neighbors Tried To Sleep is a gritty\, funny\, and painfully honest collection of late-night tales where chandeliers turn into piñatas\, landfills bloom with flowers\, and strange characters drift in and out like half-remembered dreams. It’s an album that walks the fine line between heartbreak and humor\, finding poetry in the wreckage and warmth in the weirdness of being alive. \nA construction worker by day and a keyboard poet by night\, Warnek has emerged as one of Music City’s most skillful new songwriters\, blending a myriad of influences into something entirely his own. The verve and attitude of Warren Zevon\, the piano-pop of Tumbleweed Connection-era Elton John\, the pumping ’70s glam-rock of Ian Hunter and Mott The Hoople\, the folk-rock earthiness of classic Bob Dylan and the sharp-tongued balladry of Randy Newman; they’re all here\, bound together by Warnek’s raggedly earnest vocals and wry lyrics. Warnek is the rare songwriter who can make you laugh\, wince\, and get a little misty-eyed — sometimes all at once. \nLyrically\, Warnek revels in twisted\, two-fisted tales of life’s darker side. He dives headfirst into reckless evenings spent on borrowed money\, hazy mornings waking up in a stranger’s trailer\, and daydreams about keeling over with too many secrets to reveal. It’s a world of bruised knuckles\, bad decisions\, and beautiful mistakes — told with a wink and a wince. \nOnstage\, Warnek holds court at his keyboard\, blending wry anecdotes with subversive lyricism and a showman’s charm. Some say there are no good piano men anymore. They just haven’t seen Warnek.

Campbell curated the Landscape program specifically to reflect the majesty and grandeur that define the local community. \n  \n“This program channels the expansive sense of place\, connecting the dramatic natural landscapes of the Columbia River Gorge with the rich\, emotive worlds created by master symphonic composers\,” said Campbell. \n  \nThe concert anchors around Jean Sibelius’ Symphony No. 3\, a work renowned for its pastoral clarity\, organic architecture\, and triumphant\, epic finale that evokes the raw majesty of Nordic vistas—resonating naturally with the Cascade range. Continuing the journey across geography and memory\, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ folk-infused Norfolk Rhapsody No. 1 paints a tender\, misty portrait of an English coastal fishing village\, capturing the reflective\, water-shaped contours of life by the river. Adding dramatic contrast\, Antonín Dvořák’s fiery Hussite Overture ignites the stage with rhythmic drive and historic passion\, carving a rugged musical terrain as commanding as the Gorge canyon itself. \n  \nWith Landscape\, Campbell and the Sinfonietta invite audiences to hear their surroundings anew—bridging the iconic summits of Hood and Adams and the timeless currents of the Columbia River with orchestral masterworks. \n  \nA seasoned conductor and trombonist\, Lars Campbell has led numerous performances for Third Angle New Music\, the Clackamas Wind Ensemble\, and Clackamas Repertory Theater\, in addition to performing with the Oregon Symphony. Drawn to CGOA by the vibrant community support in the Gorge\, Lars focuses on building connection and togetherness through music. Outside of conducting\, he is an avid hiker and kayaker\, an average golfer\, and a passionate fan of composer Leoš Janáček. \n  \nThe Sinfonietta Landscape concerts will be Friday\, November 13 at 7 PM\, and Sunday\, November 15 at 2 PM. Concerts will be at the Wy’east Middle School Performing Arts Center at 3000 Wy’east Rd in Odell. Tickets are available at gorgeorchestra.org. Adults $25; CGOA members $20; students/youth FREE (HS & college students show ID at the door). Also\, $5 tickets are available at the door for SNAP card holders through the Arts for All program. \n  \nThe Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and presenting musical performances of the highest quality in the Columbia River Gorge region. With a commitment to artistic excellence and education\, CGOA brings the joy of music to audiences of all ages. \n

SUMMARY:Jeffrey Foucault / Janis Carper at Trout Lake Hall
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS RELEASE FRIDAY\, AUGUST 7th at 10AM! \nSaturday\, November 14th \, 2026 \n$20 Advance // $25 Day of6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nJEFFREY FOUCAULT \nIn two decades on the road Jeffrey Foucault has become one of the most distinctive voices in American music\, refining a sound instantly recognizable for its simplicity and emotional power. With a string of critically acclaimed studio albums – “Stark\, literate songs that are as wide open as the landscape of his native Midwest” (The New Yorker)\, “Beat-up troubadour folk whittled to dolorous perfection” (Uncut)\, “Songwriting Brilliance\,” (Irish Times) – he’s built a brick-and-mortar international touring career and a devoted following\, one that includes luminaries like Van Dyke Parks\, Greil Marcus\, and Don Henley. \nIn September of 2024 Jeffrey Foucault released THE UNIVERSAL FIRE (Fluff & Gravy\, 9/6/24)\, his first album of entirely new material since 2018. A series of high-voltage performances cut live in one room\, the album is both a working wake – Foucault lost his best friend and drummer Billy Conway\, to cancer in 2021 – and a meditation on the nature of beauty\, artifact\, and loss. \nAugmenting Foucault’s all-star band with members of Calexico and Bon Iver (drummer John Convertino and producer/saxophonist Mike Lewis) THE UNIVERSAL FIRE sets Conway’s death against the massive 2008 fire at the Universal Studios lot in California that destroyed the master recordings of some of our bedrock American music\, to interrogate ideas about mortality\, legacy\, meaning\, and calling. \nJANIS CARPER \nTake Bonnie Raitt\, Shawn Colvin\, Rosanne Cash\, and Lucinda Williams and put ’em in a blender\, add a dash of Bruce Cockburn and Kevin Welch\, serve in a salted glass\, no straw. That may be the best way to describe singer/songwriter/guitarist Janis Carper\, whose clear\, powerful vocals and aggressive guitar playing skillfully convey the messages of her well-crafted songs — in styles ranging from country and swing to folk\, rock\, and blues. \nAn award-winning songwriter\, Carper has won songwriting honors at festivals including the famed Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas\, and has toured internationally in the off-Broadway hit “Woody Guthrie’s American Song.”Her 2020 album Sweet Relief — a collection of 14 original songs written and performed entirely by Carper\, recorded solo during the COVID-19 quarantine at MiCasa Studio in Enterprise\, Oregon — is her eleventh full-length recording and one of her most personal. Her 2025 single “Black Moon” continues that streak of honest\, road-worn songwriting. \nAlongside her solo work\, Carper performs with songwriter/vocalist Carolyn Lochert as Jezebel’s Mother\, and the most elusive band in the northwest\, The Strange Striders. She’s toured as lead guitarist with rising Americana star Margo Cilker\, as well as all-woman country rockers Ashleigh Flynn and the Riveters. She is also the founder and director of the Wallowa Valley Music Alliance\, a beloved non-profit she has helmed since its founding in 2004 in rural eastern Oregon.
