DESCRIPTION:September 24 will be Thrive Hood River’s HARVEST AT THE HUT IN THE HOOD! We will have a live five-piece swing band doing it in style! The stunning mountain view is a perfect scene for our elegant and delicious charcuterie grazing tables and pear themed desserts from  Mountain View Provisions. The Velvet Pour will create wonderful\, crafted specialty cocktails and mocktails. The program will include a celebration of successes\, the beautiful short film “Mount Hood’s North Face. DESCRIPTION:Big Britches Productions Presents \nComedy Night at The Bingen with Ash Allen’s Big Feelings Baby \nThursday – September 24\, 2026 – 6:30pm (an earlier show for a work night crowd) \nBig Feelings Baby is a one-hour solo (ish) storytelling show written and performed by Ash Allen about finding your inner howl and the courage to let it out. Set in the Mississippi woods\, the story follows a barefoot tomboy whose first companions are squirrels and her loud\, feral grandmother who lives up the road. Their bond runs deeper than language\, rooted in love bigger than the sky\, humor\, and a refusal to be tamed. \n​ \nThat world is upended when she is sent away one summer and comes face to face with how different she is from other girls—and how those differences are things to hide and quiet. When she returns home\, both her inner and outer worlds are irrevocably changed. Through love\, life\, and the loss of her beloved grandmother\, she learns that big feelings must be released—one howl at a time. Only then can you find not just your pack\, but yourself.

DESCRIPTION:Cheryl Ortega\, Orchard View Farms \nFriday\, September 25th\, 11:00 a.m. \nThe Dalles Wasco County Library \n(722 Court St\, The Dalles\, OR 97058) \n  \nThe Wasco County Historical Society invites the public to hear CHERYL BAILEY ORTEGA share the 100+ year history\, from its origin in 1923 by Walter and Mabel Bailey to current day\, of her family’s ORCHARD VIEW FARMS\, inducted three years ago into the State’s Century Farm Program.  In 2009\, Brenda Bailey Thomas was promoted to President of the company.  She is the fourth generation of the Bailey Family in management. \nCurrently\, their cherry business totals 3500 acres\, owned or leased\, including acreage in Dallesport\, and in Wasco\, Hood River\, and Sherman counties.  During peak season\, they employ 700-800 pickers and nearly 300 employees in and around their packing house. \nMs. Ortega will tell of the many varieties of cherries today\, what happens to these cherries in their packing house\, how and where they are marketed\, and the successes and frustrations in their multi-generational business. \nAdmission is free but donations are welcome. Refreshments.
