Rather than asking children to sit still and “be mindful\,” the class gives them opportunities to discover focus\, confidence\, calm\, and body awareness through play and movement. \nEach week may include: \n-Yoga Games & Creative Play — Movement\, imagination\, partner activities\, group games\, and plenty of opportunities to laugh and have fun.-Strength\, Balance & Coordination — Yoga poses and movement challenges that build body awareness and complement sports and other physical activities.-Mindfulness Through Movement — Simple\, age-appropriate ways to practice noticing\, focusing\, and being present.-Breathing & Calming Tools — Playful breath practices children can use when they feel overwhelmed\, frustrated\, anxious\, or overstimulated.-Confidence & Self-Compassion — Encouragement to try new things\, celebrate what their bodies can do\, and practice treating themselves and others with kindness.-Connection & Cooperation — Games and activities that encourage creativity\, communication\, teamwork\, and belonging. \nAbout Gail: \nYoga has inspired Gail Lordi for decades\, and she especially loves sharing movement\, mindfulness\, and creativity with young people. Gail has taught Creative Arts and Kids Yoga to preschool\, kindergarten\, and middle-school students in Alaska. She has worked as a full time teacher\, as well as aparaprofessional educator\, with elementary and high-school students in Colorado and Alaska She also lived and taught elementary\, JH\, and adults in Japan. You may bring your own materials and projects to work on. We have materials on hand as well. \nThis learning event is led by Chestina Dominguez\, an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes and Bands of Yakama Nation and descendant of the Warm Springs tribe. SUMMARY:2 Day Comic Book Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In this fun and creative two-day workshop\, kids ages 8–12 will learn all the steps to bring their own comic book ideas to life. From dreaming up original characters and designing their look\, to storyboarding and script writing\, students will discover how artists turn imagination into story. \nWith guidance through penciling\, inking\, and page layout\, each student will create a short\, complete comic book—learning professional tips along the way. By the end of the workshop\, everyone will leave with a few printed copies of their finished comic to share with friends and family. \nThis class is perfect for young artists who love to draw\, tell stories\, and create worlds of their own! Please pack a lunch or snack for your kiddo. \nDate: Saturday Nov 21 & Sun Nov 22 \nTime: 10am-1:30pm \nAges: 8-12 \nCost: $95 \nIf you cannot attend a class\, a 72 hour notice prior to the start of the class via email or phone is required for a full refund of the class fee. After that there is no refund. \nStudents will receive a confirmation email of the purchase of the class. And 3 days prior to the class they will receive a reminder email. Please keep a look out for these emails.
