SUMMARY:The Power of Guided Meditation
DESCRIPTION:There are many ways to meditate. While it is an oversimplification to talk in terms of “Eastern” and “Western” Meditation\, that is a useful division. Eastern could be thought of as “emptying the mind.” Western could be thought of as “leading the mind\,” or guided meditation. In our culture\, it is difficult to empty the mind. Often times\, people get discouraged and give up on meditation because they are unable to “empty the mind.” \nThe purpose of this Seminar is to share guided meditations that have proven useful to many in our Western culture. In a sense\, this is an introduction to tools. Join us and find if some of these tools are useful for you. Know that “Eastern” and “Western” methods can be combined. So even if you have a method that works for you\, this Seminar offers tools that can enhance what you have already discovered. \nThis seminar will include the didgeridoo. As a Mystic\, Gale specializes in playing the didgeridoo in ways that promote change. This is not a concert or musical performance but an experience. \nThe didgeridoo has the power to get energy moving\, especially when it is played with intention and focus. That is exactly what Gale will do\, and blocked energy can start to flow. \nIn addition to playing the sounds that fit the group\, Gale will play individual sounds that are needed in the moment. This can bring unexpected and surprising results. All that is necessary is for you to show up! \nThis meditation is lead by Gale Gray and if you would like to pre-register you can email arwen dot ungar at gmail.com \n

SUMMARY:TGR Presents: Actually\, It Is Rocket Science hosted by LDT Wines
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, November 5th\, 2026 \n$15 Advance // $15 Day Of Show **Limited Tickets**6pm Doors / 7pm ShowAll Ages \nTGR Presents: Actually\, It Is Rocket Science \nThere’s no formula for reading a couloir. No equation for stomping a cliff clean. No textbook for knowing exactly when to commit. \nOr maybe there is. \nIt’s worked out in real time—at 60 miles an hour\, in changing conditions\, with the terrain unfolding beneath your skis and everything on the line. \nFor our 31st annual ski film\, we took that idea literally. Actually\, It Is Rocket Science turns the mountain into a laboratory and the world’s best skiers into its scientists\, testing the limits of speed\, precision\, creativity\, and commitment across some of the most consequential terrain on the planet. \nThe result is a film about the calculations that happen before the drop\, the instincts that take over once you’re in it\, and the thin margin between an idea and a line actually working.

SUMMARY:Abrazo: An Evening with Nick Jaina Blending Music\, Film + Poetry
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS: https://www.tickettomato.com/event/10353 \n“My friend Andrei in Mexico City tells me that the Spanish word abrazo means so much more than a hug…” \nSo begins the stunning presentation from Nick Jaina\, a poetic film essay called Abrazo that explores the affection missing in the world. \nIn a unique performance\, Nick projects the film while playing gorgeous electric guitar soundscapes and narrating the film live\, all while beautiful videos from the streets of Mexico City flicker behind him. It is a uniquely hopeful experience of soul and body. \nThe film accompanies the book of the same name\, a poetic photo essay that unfolds in full color\, one line on each page. \n— \nNick Jaina was an Oregon Book Award finalist in 2015 for his memoir Get It While You Can\, which is now in its third printing. His writing has appeared in Atlantic Monthly\, McSweeney’s Quarterly and the journal Oregon Humanities. He has released many wonderful albums under his own name\, including 2025’s The Monster Mash. He co-founded and was music director for a ballet company in New York City called Satellite that involved dancers from Juilliard and the New York City Ballet and performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music\, garnering praise from The New York Times. He has composed scores for feature films and documentaries\, including All Sorts\, Cement Suitcase\, and Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire. \nDoors open at 6:30 pm. 18+ Indoor showQuestions? SUMMARY:The Archaeology Roadshow
DESCRIPTION:The 4th annual Archaeology Roadshow\, held in The Dalles Oregon\, focuses on The Archaeology of Fire & Water and features dozens of exhibits and activities hosted by archaeologists and heritage specialists \, representing universities\, tribes\, federal and state agencies\, companies\, and nonprofit organizations. \nThe Roadshow also invites visitors to bring personal objects (stone tools\, pottery\, animal bones) they wish to know more about. It is completely free and open to all. \nDo you have an artifact that you want to learn more about?Perhaps you found a curious object (a possible stone tool\, a piece of pottery\, an animal bone) while on a hike or walking on farm land\, or a relative gave you an artifact that had been special to them.Bring it to the Archaeology Roadshow! \nAt all of our events\, we have experts on hand who have knowledge about stone tools\, pottery\, animal bones\, historical archaeology\, and geology. Our experts will do their best to determine the object’s age\, possible function and anything else they can.If you have any details about where the object was found\, please bring these. Limit – 3 objects. No financial appraisals. \nBesides sharing their knowledge\, the experts will talk with you about the importance of stewardship – and the need for all of us to take care of precious artifacts that are directly linked to descendant communities. They will talk about the ethics and legal aspects associated with artifact collecting (see the State of Oregon websitehttps://www.oregon.gov/oprd/OH/Pages/archaeology.aspx) – and suggest organizations you can join (Oregon Archaeology Society and Archaeological Society of Central Oregon) or museums to visit\, to support your love of archaeology and history.
