SUMMARY:Printmaking Demo & Artist Talk with Jane Pagliarulo
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday\, August 16\, 1–3 p.m. at Columbia Center for the Arts for a printmaking demo and artist talk from Master Printer Jane Pagliarulo. Jane Pagliarulo will demonstrate the printing of a woodcut and Photopolymer Intaglio. Solarplate Etching is an incredibly fast and versatile way of making non-toxic prints with hand-drawn or digital artwork. She will add monoprint techniques with Akua inks\, exploring the use of multiple plates and Chine Collé to create a one-of-a-kind print. Demo runs 1–2 p.m.\, artist talk follows 2–3 p.m. Come for one\, stay for both! \nAbout the Artist:  Jane Pagliarulo has been a gorge dweller on and off since 1997. She co-founded a printmaking workshop in Hood River in the Alpine hut\, and worked as an artist in residence. In 2007 she moved the press to Portland and started Atelier Meridian\, a collaborative membership printmaking studio. As master printer\, Jane teaches printmaking workshops in monotype\, etching\, woodcut and collagraph\, and performs contract printing of editions. She exhibits nationally and is represented in Portland by Print Arts Northwest.

DESCRIPTION:Join artist Cathleen Rehfeld for a 3-hour outdoor painting class in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Pacific Northwest! \nWe’ll begin with a focused demonstration (30–45 minutes) where Cathleen will cover key concepts including color\, value\, perspective\, composition\, and techniques for creating a strong sense of atmosphere and distance in your paintings. She’ll also answer questions and help everyone get set up and focused. Cathleen will be painting in oils\, but students are welcome to bring oil or gouache. \nAfter the demo\, students will paint on location while Cathleen circulates to provide individual guidance and feedback at your easel. DESCRIPTION:Come join us for our 4th annual Touch-A-Truck event & FUNdraiser! Touch-A-Truck is a fun and engaging family-friendly experience for the whole community. It allows our children to meet and interact with some of their everyday heroes! The event is designed to give kids and families an up-close glance at construction and farming equipment\, fire and emergency vehicles\, motorcycles\, police cars\, waste management trucks\, military vehicles\, and other massive vehicles they see throughout their lives but rarely get to interact with. Kids can touch\, climb on\, participate\, and see live demonstrations of how each vehicle works\, as well as meet the associated operators. There will also belive music\, a bounce house\, ice cream truck\, kettle corn\, facepainting\, story times\, and more! \n**Admission to the event is free!** \nDonations are GREATLY welcomed as this is our primary fundraising event of the year. Wonderworks is registered a 501(c)3 non-profit and all donations are tax deductible. Activities throughout the event will have costs associated.

DESCRIPTION:Join us once a month for a social evening of unguided art making. Participants will be encouraged to bring some supplies and a sketchbook to draw\, paint or doodle! SUMMARY:First Friday Opening Reception: Belonging Otherwise & Columbia River Gorge in VI Sections
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate the opening of two new exhibitions. In the main gallery\, Belonging Otherwise brings together Epiphany Couch and Charlie-Anne Hopkins\, two artists whose work converges around identity\, ecology\, and the layered histories of the American West — reframing the region not as static history but as a living terrain of story and survival. In the lobby\, Kristie Strasen’s Columbia River in VI Sections maps the full length of the Columbia through handwoven tapestries\, tracing the river’s geological\, cultural\, and political history and its central role in Native sovereignty and environmental balance.  \nMingle\, enjoy light refreshments\, and be among the first to experience both exhibitions. Both shows run September 4 through October 30. \n  \nAbout the Artists \nEpiphany Couch (she/her) is a spuyaləpabš (Puyallup)\, Yakama\, and Scandinavian/mixed European interdisciplinary artist and writer. Drawing on family stories\, archival research\, her own dreams\, and her childhood in caləłali (Tacoma\, WA)\, she works across photography\, beadwork\, weaving\, and collage. Her recent honors include a Percent for Art commission\, the Oregon Contemporary Artists’ Biennial\, residencies at MASS MoCA and the GLEAN Program\, and a Career Opportunity Grant from the Oregon Arts Commission. She lives and works in Portland\, OR.  \nCharlie-Anne Hopkins (they/them) holds an MFA in Sculpture from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA in Interdisciplinary Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute. They have held residencies at the Museum of Arts and Design (NYC)\, Vermont Studio Center\, Caldera Arts\, Brush Creek Foundation\, Mildred’s Lane\, Leland Ironworks\, Sou’wester Arts\, Sitka Center for Art and Ecology\, and Aunt Dofe’s\, and have exhibited nationally and internationally. They co-founded Carnation Contemporary\, a cooperative gallery in Portland\, OR championing emerging and underrepresented artists. Hopkins lives and works in Thorp\, Washington.  \nKristie Strasen built a highly successful career in New York City as a textile designer and colorist for leading companies in the interior furnishings industry before returning to her roots as a hand weaver and launching Little Weavings Co in 2017. Committed to making “things worth keeping\,” she creates artisanal\, one-of-a-kind pieces from natural fibers – often hand spun or produced by small-batch spinners\, and both commercially and naturally dyed. Known for an intuitive command of color drawn from years of building color systems for clients across North America and Europe\, Strasen weaves work of unusual richness and significance.
