DESCRIPTION:In 2007\, Kiteboard 4 Cancer was founded by three Gorge locals inspired to put on a small event for community good.One of those founders\, Tonia Farman\, led the event for its first fifteen years as it grew into a beloved community tradition. After several years away\, Tonia has returned to help guide KB4C into its next chapter\, reigniting the event with the same spirit of purpose and community that started it all. \nThere will be kiteboarding\, winging\, foiling\, art-ing\, eating\, swimming and more fun activities for our community to come take part in! \nFor the past 17 years\, KB4C has benefited organizations such as Children’s Hospital Seattle\, Children’s Healing Art Project\, John Wayne Cancer Foundation\, Celilo Cancer Center\, OHSU Adolescent & Young Adult Clinic\, and Project Koru\, the local organization here in Hood River that was started because of Kiteboard 4 Cancer. \nNew this year\, KB4C will select three beneficiary organizations whose work strengthens the Gorge community in the areas of cancer care and support\, and/or mental health and wellness.This approach allows the event to support several impactful programs each year while staying focused on the well-being of our community. DESCRIPTION:In this beginner-friendly class students will have a chance to make their own miniature animals out of porcelain clay. Follow along with instructor Ashley Stare with step-by-step instructions on how to create the selected animal\, or craft your own whimsical creature. We will aim to make 2 different animals\, decorate them with colorful underglazes\, and learn about adding high-temp wire. You will also learn how to create a strong connection between two pieces of clay\, and safe clean-up methods. Do you want to make a duck wearing a cowboy hat? You can! \nOnce pieces are finished\, they will be transported to the ceramics studio for two firings and will get two coats of clear glaze so they come out looking glossy. Completed work will be ready to pick up in roughly 3-5 weeks. DESCRIPTION:Cruise the Gorge 2026 is ON\, August 7-8-9\, 2026\n\n\nComing up on our 33rd year\, and still going strong. Dennis Gage (“My Classic Car” TV) liked it so much he put it on his “Greatest Hits” tour in 2025. Check our webpage www.midcolumbiacarclub.org or on YouTube for the episodes featuring our 2016 and 2025 shows.\n\n\nEverything kicks off with the “Neon Cruise”\, Friday evening\, downtown The Dalles. It’s an “open” cruise\, just like back in the day\, so just show up and start showing off (NO burnouts however). Cruisin’ runs from 7 to 9:45pm\, and it looks like the city will turn the lights to flashing yellow this year! Yea! This is the favorite part of the weekend for many of the locals\, and the sidewalks up and down 2nd and 3rd streets fill up with enthusiastic spectators. You can also pre-register for the show and/or pick up your Goodie Bag\, and check out T-shirt/hat and raffle ticket sales at Burgerville on 3rd St. between 4 and 7 pm.\n\n\nThen Saturday brings the “Show in the Shade”\, on the grass in beautiful SOROSIS PARK\, 300E Scenic Dr. Gate opens at 8am\, judging until Noon\, and the Parade of Champions awards ceremony beginning at 2pm. Goodie bags and dash plaques to the 1st 250 vehicles. $25 pre-entry\, $30 after July 31. 40+ awesome awards\, food and specialty vendors\, special entertainment\, oldies music and plenty of raffle prizes.\n\n\nFinally\, there’s the Dufur Threshing Bee Car Show\, on Sunday in the Dufur Community Park\, just 13 miles South of The Dalles\, starting at 9am.\n\n\nSo\, one day\, two days or all three\, how much fun do you want to have?
