DESCRIPTION:Join us once a month for a social evening of unguided art making. Participants will be encouraged to bring some supplies and a sketchbook to draw\, paint or doodle! We will provide paper\, pens and pencils and can provide prompts to get the creative juices flowing. \nHow this works is you can bring in used but clean usable arts and crafts supplies. This can be anything from paper\, paints\, brushes\, beads\, pencils etc. We will spread out the supplies on tables and people will be able to freely take what they’d like. This technique begins with staining the paper using watercolor or gouache\, then applying gouache as a mask before covering the entire surface with India ink. Intrepid wild eagle watchers can warm up at the Museum while they learn about this magnificent national bird. Museum visitors can pick up an Eagle Circuit Map\, learn where viewing conditions are best and have an amazing hands-on learning experience as they continue on their wild Eagle Watch Day.  \nCGDCM is partnering with organizations including the Xerces Society\, Oregon State Parks\, the Forest Service\, local authors and more for a free open house (9-3pm) on January 17th.  \n\nMeet Liberty and Ferguson – Throughout the day\, CGDCM Raptor Team specialists will offer visitors the chance to meet the Museum’s ambassador bald eagles\, Liberty and Ferguson and learn about eagle biology and behavior. \nEagle Movie Marathon – All-day CGDCM will show an eagle movie marathon in our beautiful and comfortable Murdock Theater. \nPERCH\, a raptor rehabilitation and wildlife education organization\, will be onsite with more live birds\, offering visitors a rare opportunity to see birds of prey up close while learning about their ecology\, conservation\, and recovery.\nHomemade Soups and hot beverages available in the Basalt Rock Cafe.

For the musicians\, it’s a chance to prepare their favorite music independently of large group rehearsals. \nPast concerts have included an incredibly diverse selection of performers\, from brass ensembles to string trios to solo highland bagpipes. This year’s concert will be Sunday\, January 25\, at 2 PM in the Sanctuary of Hood River Valley Christian Church\, 975 Indian Creek Rd\, Hood River. The program is still being finalized\, but as always\, it’s guaranteed to be delightfully eclectic and entertaining.
