DESCRIPTION:  \nColumbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum is thrilled to host an extraordinary quilted art exhibition\, GORGE LIFE from the local fiber art group Beyond the Block: Art Quilters of the Gorge. This temporary exhibit is a collection of quilted artwork revealing personal experiences\, impressions\, memories and impactful moments of sixteen artists who call the Gorge home. Beyond the Block: Art Quilters of the Gorge\, have been creating and exhibiting artwork from fabric and thread for more than a decade\, employing a myriad of techniques and artistic styles to bring their inspiring images to life. From landscapes and wildlife to abstract symbolism and interpretations\, their work expresses unique glimpses of life in the Gorge.

SUMMARY:Art Night! Art Swap!
DESCRIPTION:Join us once a month for a social evening of unguided art making. Participants will be encouraged to bring some supplies and a sketchbook to draw\, paint or doodle! We will provide paper\, pens and pencils and can provide prompts to get the creative juices flowing. \nThis Art Night will double as an Art Supply swap! \nIf you have art supplies collecting dust on a shelf and want to see them going to a new home come down and swap it! \nHow this works is you can bring in used but clean usable arts and crafts supplies. This can be anything from paper\, paints\, brushes\, beads\, pencils etc. We will spread out the supplies on tables and people will be able to freely take what they’d like. This is meant to be a way for community members to redistribute art supplies to one another\, so if you don’t have supplies to bring that isn’t a problem feel free to come and see if there’s supplies you could use. \nWe will also have a station set up to create small spiral bound books out of unbound papers\, so if you have odds and ends of papers laying around that could be cut down and made into a small sketchbook feel free to bring that as well. \nAnything left over will be donated to Nextdoor Youth Drop In Center in The Dalles. \nDate: Wednesday April 1st \nTime: 6pm-8pm \nAges: 18+ \nCost $5
