SUMMARY:Drawing and Painting the Portrait
DESCRIPTION:In this two day workshop with artist Michelle Yamamoto\, students will be introduced on day one to the principals of observational drawing from a reference image on a grid (optional) capturing the value shapes and key navigation points to gain a likeness of the subject. \nOn day two\, using a limited color palette\, students will transfer their drawing onto an 8×10” canvas\, and paint is as a colorful value study. Students with more experience are welcome to venture into a more expanded palette. \nThis class is perfect for those who have experience in drawing and painting. \nIntermediate level. \nStudents purchasing materials through Tokki Art Supply will receive a 20% off when showing their order confirmation. \nDate: Saturday February 28th and Sunday March 1st \nTime: 11am-4pm each day \nAges: 16+ \nCost: $250 \nLocation: Tokki Art Supply \nClass Materials. This February program brings the spirit of plein air painting indoors\, offering artists a chance to observe and capture the subtle browns\, whites\, and atmospheric tones of the season without braving the cold. \n \nLed by Portland artist Jinnet Powel\, this acrylic class invites participants to slow down\, study the landscape\, and approach winter painting as both creative exploration and a form of quiet meditation. Jinnet will guide students through two foundational plein air techniques: using preliminary thumbnail sketches to clarify composition\, and working with a limited palette to build luminous\, compelling winter scenes. \n \nThis program takes place in the Discovery Center’s naturally lit lobby in front of their floor-to-ceiling windows\, making it an ideal environment for direct observation and artistic focus. DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy an evening of dancing\, games\, a photo booth\, raffle baskets and a soda bar! Moms and sons welcome as well. Pizza for purchase. \nPut on yer dancin’ boots and join us for a night of dancing\, games\, horse drawn carriage rides\, cowboy hat decorating\, a photo booth\, soda bar and raffle basket winning! \nMoms and daughters\, fathers and sons\, moms and sons\, grandparents and grandchildren\, guardians and children\, etc. are all welcome to attend. Whatever your family looks like\, you are invited! Tickets are $35 per “couple” plus $10 for each additional child. \nWhen you arrive\, you’ll check in upstairs at the Fort Dalles Readiness Center where you will get your commemorative ticket. Then\, you’ll head into the event where you can dance to our awesome DJ\, purchase and design your own specialty soda\, buy some yummy treats\, play some fun games (including cornhole!) and purchase raffle tickets for $1 to win any of our several gift baskets. We’ll have horse drawn carriage rides in the lower parking lot throughout the evening\, and don’t miss taking photos and getting your photo print outs at the photo booth sponsored by Columbia Gorge Honda and Toyota. We’ll have cowboy hat decorating that you can add on to your ticket purchase as well (quantities are limited\, so we suggest ordering ahead!). If you’re hungry\, you can order pizza from Pizza the Gathering! \nThis is a community-wide event for all families in The Gorge. \nWe’re excited to bring back this special event where all are welcome!
