This technique begins with staining the paper using watercolor or gouache\, then applying gouache as a mask before covering the entire surface with India ink. Once the ink fully dries\, it’s washed away—lifting the gouache and revealing a beautifully textured image reminiscent of a well-loved woodcut print. \nJodi will share why she loves this technique: the element of surprise when the print is revealed\, and the fact that these pieces come together in just a couple of days.
