DESCRIPTION:Cruise the Gorge 2026 is ON\, August 7-8-9\, 2026\n\n\nComing up on our 33rd year\, and still going strong. Dennis Gage (“My Classic Car” TV) liked it so much he put it on his “Greatest Hits” tour in 2025. Check our webpage www.midcolumbiacarclub.org or on YouTube for the episodes featuring our 2016 and 2025 shows.\n\n\nEverything kicks off with the “Neon Cruise”\, Friday evening\, downtown The Dalles. It’s an “open” cruise\, just like back in the day\, so just show up and start showing off (NO burnouts however). Cruisin’ runs from 7 to 9:45pm\, and it looks like the city will turn the lights to flashing yellow this year! Yea! This is the favorite part of the weekend for many of the locals\, and the sidewalks up and down 2nd and 3rd streets fill up with enthusiastic spectators. You can also pre-register for the show and/or pick up your Goodie Bag\, and check out T-shirt/hat and raffle ticket sales at Burgerville on 3rd St. between 4 and 7 pm.\n\n\nThen Saturday brings the “Show in the Shade”\, on the grass in beautiful SOROSIS PARK\, 300E Scenic Dr. Gate opens at 8am\, judging until Noon\, and the Parade of Champions awards ceremony beginning at 2pm. Goodie bags and dash plaques to the 1st 250 vehicles. $25 pre-entry\, $30 after July 31. 40+ awesome awards\, food and specialty vendors\, special entertainment\, oldies music and plenty of raffle prizes.\n\n\nFinally\, there’s the Dufur Threshing Bee Car Show\, on Sunday in the Dufur Community Park\, just 13 miles South of The Dalles\, starting at 9am.\n\n\nSo\, one day\, two days or all three\, how much fun do you want to have?

Refreshments will be available.  After the program\, the House will be open for viewing the impressive Tedd Lovell Family Bicentennial Exhibit. \nCheryl Ortega\, Orchard View Farms \nSaturday\, August 8th\, 11:00 a.m. \nMoody/Rorick House\, 300 W. 13th St.\, The Dalles \nThe Wasco County Historical Society invites the public to hear CHERYL BAILEY ORTEGA share the 100+ year history\, from its origin in 1923 to current day\, of her family’s Orchard View Farms\, inducted three years ago into the State’s Century Farm Program. \nCurrently\, their cherry business totals 3500 acres\, owned or leased\, including acreage in Dallesport\, and in Wasco\, Hood River\, and Sherman counties.  During peak season\, they employ 700-800 pickers and nearly 300 employees in and around their packing house. \nMs. Ortega will tell of the many varieties of cherries today\, what happens to these cherries in their packing house\, how and where they are marketed\, and the successes and frustrations in their multi-generational business. \nOrchard View Farms will join other Wasco County Century/Sesquicentennial Farms and Ranches on display in the Open Class Building during the Wasco County Fair in Tygh Valley\, August 20th to August 23rd.  In addition to this year’s theme “Let the Bell Ring: Hear the Country Sing”\, the fair has adopted as its logo\, “Happy Birthday America”.

Quieting rooms with her intimate blend of classical\, jazz\, and folk – she has endeared herself to audiences across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Her music contains thoughtful\, elegant strings layered with memorable\, and sweetly delivered vocal melodies. Over the years she has collaborated with Matt Costa\, Sleater-Kinney\, Mayer Hawthorne\, Jacob Miller\, Shook Twins\, Cyrus Nabipoor\, Integer\, Whitney\, Erisy Watt\, Hanna Haas\, and many others.
