DESCRIPTION:Take your painting to the next level and learn how to get to the right colors quickly with artist Michelle Yamamoto in this immersive color mixing workshop. \nDay one will start with a slide show and a deep dive into a 10 page notebook that lays out your projects and explores the powerful science of color theory. Students who have previously taken this course have said that “it’s a game changer in fast tracing a more methodical approach.” \nOn day two\, students will paint an apple and if there is time\, a lemon wedge. \nAll mediums welcome. SUMMARY:Labyrinth Walk
DESCRIPTION:Facilitated by Marna Cascadia \nWe’ll learn a bit about the history of labyrinths and contemporary research on the benefits and vibrant practices of walking labyrinths. And together we will share a contemplative experience of walking a labyrinth together.In the process of moving through a labyrinth\, the act of pausing and slowing opens a field of imaginal expansion and kinship. We incubate a question to travel with\, in the wheels of the labyrinth. To pause at the turns is to notice pivoting the body and literally changing perspective. We arrive at the center of the labyrinth\, pausing to reflect\, often noticing what insights have been gifted. Then we turn and make the great journey outward. Our attention might be drawn to fresh perspectives\, connections\, integrations\, and possibilities as we arc and twist. \nOften\, folks open to or incubate an intention during the quiet\, open-focus experience of walking contemplatively through the arcs and turns of the labyrinth. Here\, at the glimmering time of possibility as winter winks into promises of spring\, let us incubate and open. We each proceed at our own pace. Labyrinth walking can help us to: \n-Sustain states of experiential flow-Cultivate a deeper relationship with self-Share an experience of opening within the larger wheels of becoming-Catalyze creative contemplation. \nWith thanks to Richard Poudrier from Salem who has loaned us a 20-foot\, Chartres-pattern\, cloth labyrinth. Please note – during the experiential portion of the service\, we will walk in socks as we move through the cloth labyrinth.Cloth shoe-cover booties will also be available. SUMMARY:CGOA Presents Chamber Music Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association \n20th Anniversary Season \nAfternoon of Chamber Music 2026 \nSunday\, November 25  2 PM \nHood River Valley Christian Church \nOver the past several years\, CGOA’s annual Chamber Music Concert has become a winter favorite\, with audiences at capacity. The concert is an opportunity for individual musicians from the Gorge Sinfonietta and other ensembles to stretch their musical wings. For the musicians\, it’s a chance to prepare their favorite music independently of large group rehearsals. \nPast concerts have included an incredibly diverse selection of performers\, from brass ensembles to string trios to solo highland bagpipes. This year’s concert will be Sunday\, January 25\, at 2 PM in the Sanctuary of Hood River Valley Christian Church\, 975 Indian Creek Rd\, Hood River. The program is still being finalized\, but as always\, it’s guaranteed to be delightfully eclectic and entertaining. One confirmed highlight is the premiere of “Folktales\,” written by Mitchell Jett Spencer for the Hood River String Quartet. \nThe Afternoon of Chamber Music is free\, no ticket required\, with donations accepted at the door. \nThe concert is part of CGOA’s 20th Anniversary Season\, which also includes upcoming Jazz Collective dances\, a joint performance with the Voci Community Choir and Sinfonietta in April\, Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods in May and a Piano Summit concert in June\, featuring soloists Kathy Apland and Mitchell Jett Spencer.  Tickets and information can be found at gorgeorchestra.org \nThe Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and presenting musical performances of the highest quality in the Columbia River Gorge region.
