Voci Choir concert: Our Shared Humanity

Voci Community Choir, a Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association vocal ensemble, is thrilled to announce their upcoming choir concert, “Our Shared Humanity.” This evening of choral music promises to captivate audiences with a diverse selection of songs spanning various eras and genres.

Under the artistic direction of Dan Kenealy, Voci has been celebrated for its vocal artistry and commitment to creating unforgettable musical experiences. “Our Shared Humanity” is poised to continue this tradition by taking attendees on a remarkable journey through various musical genres and themes, exploring the rich tapestry of human expression through song.

This concert will feature a repertoire of world music, gospel selections and contemporary choral works based on the poetry of Maya Angelou, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Wendell Berry and Ogden Nash. The choir will also perform the world premiere of a piece commissioned by Tina Castañares of Hood River and composed by Mark Steighner.

“Our Shared Humanity” promises to be a unique and immersive musical experience that will touch the hearts of all in attendance. The choir’s harmonies, vocal technique, and emotional depth are sure to leave a lasting impression.

The choir performs on Friday, April 26 at 7 PM and on Sunday, April 28 at 2 PM. Both performances are at the Hood River Valley Christian Church, 975 Indian Creek Rd., in Hood River. Tickets for “Our Shared Humanity” can be purchased at gorgeorchestra.org or at the venue on the day of the event. Adults $25, CGOA members $15, students free. (College and high school students must show their student ID at the door.) Early ticket purchases are recommended to ensure your place at this memorable concert.

The concerts kick off a series of upcoming performances including Bat Boy: The Musical from May 3-18 and Our American Home by the Gorge Sinfonietta on June 14,15,16. The concerts are supported in part by this season’s headline sponsor, Columbia Gorge Toyota and Honda.
