Plein Air Workshop: Finding Our Unique

April 26 @ 9:00 am

2024 Pacific Northwest Plein Air Juror Ned Mueller leads a painting workshop focusing on concept and “finding our unique,” particularly in design. The day begins with a presentation using examples of Ned’s work and creative process as well as examples of other artists’ work that demonstrate a more “unique” perspective, inspiring participants to “bend our own envelope.” Afterward, Ned will lead participants to the painting sites on or near the museum grounds to assist with composition and provide concept and technical critique.

After lunch, participants will have time to create a number of small color studies, using some of the value references made from one or more locations.

The workshop fee is $150.00. Participants are asked to bring a small sketch pad for value studies, along with standard plein air equipment and supplies. Participants may purchase lunch from Loie’s: The Museum Cafe or bring their own lunch.
