Introduction to oil painting with Brooke Walker-Knoblich
Join us for an intensive one-day workshop painting pet portraits in oils. Brooke brings decades of experience and a passion for teaching to guide students in exploring this luscious medium. Learn classical realism methods of art making using alla prima techniques in a simplified color palette. Workshop is designed for all skill levels, beginners are welcomed!
Itinerary:
10am – 10:30: Introduction and discussion of materials.
10:30 – 11:30: Instructor’s painting demonstration of her 3 step process, color mixing, and brushwork techniques.
11:30 – 1pm: Students begin paintings. Brooke will circle the room to offer individual help as needed.
1pm – 2: Lunch break.
2 – 4:30pm: Students work towards completing their paintings.
4:30 – 5pm: Group admiration and critique of everyone’s work.
Instructor will provide most materials, including paint, easels, palettes, medium, OMS, etc. Students must bring a gessoed canvas (recommend 8×10″ or 11×14″ size), paintbrushes shaped rounds, flats, and filberts sized detailed to 1″ wide, and a printed image of the animal they want to paint for reference.

If you cannot attend a class, a 72 hour notice prior to the start of the class via email or phone is required for a full refund of the class fee. After that there is no refund.
Students will receive a confirmation email of the purchase of the class. And 3 days prior to the class they will receive a reminder email. Please keep a look out for these emails.
