Introduction to Citizen Science

Did you know that you can help scientists with their research projects? That’s what Citizen Science is all about! By taking this course, you’ll learn how to use your mobile phone to participate in exciting projects like identifying and tracking plant distribution, observing and recording bird migration patterns, and even studying the stars. By the end of this course, you’ll be equipped with the skills you need to enhance your enjoyment of nature and make a real impact on scientific research. So join us and become part of the growing community of Citizen Scientists! The course is designed for adults in terms of content and presentation style, but we welcome all motivated high school-aged naturalists. Each participant will need a smartphone. There will be both indoor and outdoor activities, so please come prepared for the weather and be ready to walk on a ¼ mile-paved trail. This event is hosted by Gorge Ecology Outdoors, in partnership with Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum and Columbia Gorge Community College.
