Hi everyone. My name is Morgan Fava, and I’m a death doula and grief educator here in Hood River.
I spend my days doing work most people avoid. Sitting with families while someone is dying. Helping people plan for a death before they’re in the middle of it. Holding space for grief that doesn’t follow a timeline, because grief never does.
I’m starting a free educational series at the Hood River Library this fall, open to anyone in our community. No cost, no pressure, just honest conversations about the things we’re usually too afraid to bring up out loud.
First up, September 28 from 6:30 to 8:00 PM: Grief Is Not Linear (And It Doesn’t End)
If you’ve ever felt like you should be “over it” by now, or you’re grieving something that happened years ago and nobody around you understands why it still hurts, this one’s for you. We’ll talk about where the five stages of grief actually came from, why they were never meant to be a checklist, and what it means to carry grief as an ongoing relationship instead of a problem to solve.
The series continues November 16 with a session on planning ahead for end of life, and December 1 with an open conversation about what death actually looks like. All sessions same time, same place, same door open to anyone who wants to walk through it.
