Gorge Geology Day Trip!

October 11, 2025 @ 8:30 am

Have you always wondered about the unusual rock formations of the Gorge? Here’s your chance to explore “deep time” with a professional geologist! Lloyd DeKay will shift your way of
seeing and thinking about this special place as we travel back in time to imagine a Columbia Gorge millions of years ago. We will come away with a greater understanding of the awesome forces of lava, water and time and our perspective will never be the same!

This all-day trip is open to EVERYONE and is hosted by the Gorge chapter of the Oregon State University Extension Naturalist Program.  We will travel by bus between Hood River and The Dalles with stops on both the Oregon and Washington sides.

The cost for the day is $40.00. Bring a sack lunch, water and whatever else you might need for a day out and about. Make sure to check the weather and bring layers of clothing to keep you comfortable, rain or shine!

The registration deadline is October 9th
