Drawing with Graphite: Blurring the Vision
February 15 @ 11:00 am
Discover the power of soft focus and subtle transitions in this intensive graphite workshop taught by instructor Kim Ragsdale. This class dives deep into blending and layering techniques that help create realistic textures and atmospheric effects in your drawings. Students will be guided through a series of exercises designed to strengthen control, confidence, and sensitivity with graphite.
We’ll explore:
- How to build texture through thoughtful mark-making
- Blending basics, from bold unblended strokes to smooth, seamless gradients
- Techniques for rendering small detailed studies including clothing folds, hair, skin, and woodgrain
You’ll work on focused mini-drawings that put these skills into practice, helping you understand how graphite behaves across different surfaces and textures. All paper and supplies will be provided—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
