Cyanotype on Clothing

Use the power of the sun to create curated botanical prints on your clothing using a photography technique called Cyanotype. Cyanotype predates the advent of modern photography and is able to capture details of items placed on the fabric when exposed to the sun. Students will use pre-treated pieces of cyanotype fabric to create the design then after the piece has dried, students will return to Tokki for Day 2 where students will learn to sew their cyanotype piece to the clothing of their choice.
Pre-treated fabric will be provided and Lily will demonstrate the process of treating the fabric with the solution so students could try at home. A collection of items to use to create your design will be provided. Feel free to bring objects (dried plants, flowers, lace etc) to use in class.
All materials provided, please bring an article of clothing that you would like to add your cyanotype to. Natural fabrics such as linen, denim, cotton and canvas will be ideal to learn to sew on.
