Bookbinding: Western Case & Slipcover

March 10 @ 10:00 am

Join us in this complete bookbinding class with professional Bookbinder Molly Lewis. Western Case binding is what most people would commonly call a “Library Binding,” as it is the most standard type of binding in the Western world. It is also, however, one of the most complicated to execute.

In this class we will learn how to sew paper signatures together to create a text block, and then how to create covers for that text block to complete a Western Case bound book. Once we complete the book, we will take a break and come back to build a cloth covered slipcase to protect the book.

All materials are provided.
