MARGO CILKER

Margo Cilker’s sophomore album, Valley of Heart’s Delight, refers to a place she can’t return: California’s Santa Clara Valley, as it was known before the orchards were paved over and became more famous for Silicon than apricots. In this 11-song follow-up to 2021’s critically acclaimed Pohorylle, family and nature intertwine as guiding motifs, at once precious and endangered, beautiful and exhausting. Cilker and Pohorylle producer Sera Cahoone brought most of that record’s highly-acclaimed crew (studio players for The Decemberists, Band Of Horses, and Beirut) back to the studio with additional contributions from acclaimed Northwest traditionalist Caleb Klauder. Valley of Heart’s Delight, Cilker’s second record on Portland, Oregon label Fluff & Gravy Records, has already racked up an impressive list of accolades and year-end picks and has paved the way for 2024’s extensive touring and festival appearances.

Margo Cilker lives near the Columbia River in Goldendale, Washington with her husband, songwriter and working cowboy Forrest VanTuyl, as well their dog and some horses.

CLARA BAKER

Clara Baker is a celebrated producer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and audio engineer from Portland, OR.

Clara was raised in a musical household and started taking music lessons and writing songs at a young age. Her music has lead her to record several albums solo and with bands and tour all over the US and abroad. Clara’s 2019 release, Things To Burn, was recorded live to tape in a Wisconsin living room with Grammy-winning engineer Brian Joseph (Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver) and avant-folk experimentalist Shane Leonard (Anna Tivel, Josh Ritter). Atwood Magazine called it “soul-stirring”, and East Portland Blog called it a “must-hear… one of the best albums of 2019.”

The process of recording Things To Burn inspired Clara to go back to school and become an audio engineer. It was there she learned that less than 5% of producers and engineers are women. Determined to change this, she has been working in studios as a producer and audio engineer ever since. Her swift accomplishments in her field earned her an invitation to become a voting member of the Recording Academy.

In addition to writing songs and producing, recording and mixing for artists, Clara also composes music for film and TV and has had placements on Netflix, The CW, Tubi and more.

Clara is an adjunct faculty member in songwriting at Lewis and Clark College in Portland. She also tours occasionally on fiddle, guitar, and vocals, most recently with Margo Cilker, An American Forrest and others
